What do you think of this round diamond?

You would have to ask for an idealscope image to see if there is leakage. Usually with a 41 degree crown angle, around 35 is about as high as is safe for the crown angle. But the idealscope image will tell us for sure . So request a magnified photo of the stone and an idealscope image and post them.

I thought the crown angle was 35.5. Obviously, I need to go back to tutorials. Thanks!

Actually, i think DIamondSeeker2006 misread bc the crown IS 35.5 and the pavilion is 41. Those numbers aren't so bad, however, when I plugged all the angles in to the HCA tool, this diamond scores a 3.9 which isn't something you would probably want to consider -- it's best to stay under 2 on the HCA.

Nope. I'd pass. The crown IMO is a bit too big. 34 is ideal. I also would never ever recommend buying a diamond from a place where you can't even see pictures. Also this place doesn't have good customer service. Obviously up to you. What's your budget?

I would like to stay under 4k, but would consider more for a larger diamond.

how much more? If I know your top budget then we can find the biggest stone for that budget? Are you willing to put your money into the stone now and in a temp setting and upgrade the setting later?

I did not misread. I was pointing out that I had doubts because I usually think of 35 being about the limit on crown angle when the pav angle is 41 and this crown angle is higher than 35. It can't hurt to ask for the idealscope image, and then you'd know for sure whether there is too much leakage. But it is probably not a stone I would personally buy.

My setting is 2K but very unique. Just happened on it when getting a watch battery.

DiamondSeeker06: Sorry, seems we misread your comment! :naughty:

I'm actually going to disagree about B2C having bad customer service. I've been contacting them quite a bit over the past few weeks and they've been pretty awesome...and i've inquired about a LOT of diamonds (trust me!) and they've been patient and really nice.

Yes, there are cons to using them -- they can't always provide the best images and don't usually have idealscope available for their overseas diamonds (in that respect they're kind of similar to BlueNile). However, their prices are lower than most and while this forum generally loves vendors like JamesAllen, GOG, and Whiteflash (and with good reason, they provide fantastic diamond support), their prices can definitely be on the higher end.

So for me, I guess I keep giving b2c a chance in the hopes that I find something fantastic. I might have to do some more work on my end then one of the retailers above, but hopefully in the end, it'll be worth it. Just my two cents.
