Hello, was wondering if anyone on here has a 1 carat i3 diamond solitaire . I would like to see what one looks like in person if that's possible for them to post pics of one.

Thankyou!!

Vonnie,
It would REALLY depend on the stone and the inclusions inside of it. It's kind of like asking someone to post a picture of their dress, so you can dress shop. if that makes any sense. I can tell you at an i3, it is likely to not have very much shine or be quite cloudy. Also, an I3 may have durability issues with feathers (cracks) or other inclusions. They are definitely a case by case sort of stone.

Yes I understand an i3 stone is not going to be the best but wanted to see some examples. I'm not planning on buying one.

Also, check out ebay and type in i3 diamond for a few examples. I found one listing (hope its okay if I list, admin)

I think most 'salt and pepper' diamonds would be graded as I3 but they are deliberately chosen for their carbon inclusions. I would suggest I3s with a lot of white inclusions would be very hazy. Try googling 'salt and pepper diamonds' if you're after that look.

Not a full carat, but I suspect my stone would be graded an I3, due to its huge chip. As you can imagine, there would be no point in having it graded...

And yet despite that, I’m actually trying to find another one like it, to reset as earrings. Other than her awful chip (visible at 6 to 8 o’clock), she’s a beauty. Here’s a face shot:

That is a beauty!!! Lovely and sparkly!

What do you think of this 1 carat ?? It does have a noticable inclusion but I like the character of it! I'm actually tempted as its 300 dollars!

Have a look on James Allen, you will find some beauties

Are James allens diamond not good?

Hi @Vonniexx I see you are looking at i3 clarity diamonds and you posted one your husband purchased for $300. I think unless you specially WANT the "unique heavily included/salt n pepper" look/style - why not let us help you find something better? :wavey:

Give us a few details like your budget, size, cut, colour & clarity wishes and maybe we can show you some suggestions. Would you consider some pre-loved options?

Excellent and very kind offer - I hope OP takes advantage of such great assistance (ok and tbh I’m going to start a thread asking for the same).

I like this stone, @PreRaphaelite
I'm attracted to the old wonky ones. And the inclusions don't really bother me as long as there is still a good degree of clarity. I find the needles and feathers interesting!

I'm quick to compromise on one or all of the other 3cs in favour of carat weight but even I would be wary of a 1 carat stone at only $300. As someone kindly offered, there are better stones out there worth spending extra money on.

Thanks @moneymeister
Certainly this is a stone that would never be PS quality unless recut.

If OP likes inclusions (well I suppose in emeralds it’s “Jardin”) then having them woven through a stone is a permanent state. But if the Inclusions or damage are removable with recut, then $300 is a nice gamble.
How I wish my old stone had only been $300 !!

Your "chippy" stone is lovely. She's old, so you have to honor those chips :) AS I get older, I have more wrinkles too. In her case, it's character. But oh my look at those girdle reflections!

Akkkk, I meant culet reflections. Could not remember the "k" word to save my life. I won't post before coffee anymore :D. @stracci2000

I do love the old stones. I wish I had more.......

Hi! That would be so lovely of you! Yes I would love your help, thankyou soooo much !!

I have on hand 800 gbp! Not sure what that is in dollars. Not alot but better than nothing lol. I was really wanting an upgrade from the .50 carat solitaire that I have. I would be happy with a preowned. Not sure on cut or clarity but open to options :) I want a diamond that I can look at and go , wow that's mine xx

What do you think on these ones??

Let me ask, do you want a 1-carat ring that is very sparkly? What are your dreams here?

Would you consider buying a lab diamond? Would you consider moissanite?

I would prefer a 1 carat diamond, can be a 3 stone ring or halo ring. Not wanting a lab or moissanite ring. I like a bit of bling ! :)

Just FYI my badly chipped OEC got an SI2 from an appraiser recently, thought for sure it would be an I1 so you really never know!

It may be possible to buy a used ring at your pricepoint. If you get a darker diamond, they are much less expensive but can be very beautiful. In USD, your budget is about 1,000.

Are James allens diamond not good?
My sister bought her engagement ring from James Allen and I think it’s well priced and lovely.

What do you guys think on this?

Specs: SI1 clarity, H colour 1 carat diamonds.

Thankyou for all your help guys!! I have much faith on you helping me find a lovely ring xxx
