Here are the specs on a diamond via GIA report

1.15 carat
Color grade = g
Clarity grade = vvs1
Cut grade = very good
Shape = round brilliant
Fluorescence = strong blue
HCA rating = 2.4
measurements = 6.91 - 6.97 x 3.99mm

Vendor is in a store and he purchased the diamond from a "walk in".

Any suggestions on what to offer so that both I and the vendor receive a FAIR deal .

Sounds like a good stone...but it measures out more like a 1.25 or 1.3 carat. Do you have a picture? For a very good cut, I'm seeing prices for that color and clarity for anywhere from 9-15k. But it would really all depend on the cut. I havent found anything that's VG symmetry that has a 2.4 hca score...

Unfortunately I do not have a picture from the vendor.

Here are the exact readings I used for the HCA score

table = 61%
depth = 57.6%
crown angle = 31.5
pavillion angle = 41.2

GIA report #2131417430

I dont think the hca works for vg cuts

not a good stone...big table with a flat top... :knockout:..the diameter should be closer to 6.8 mm

Wow - I'd definitely skip this!! What's your budget?

Budget is 10K...

should I go with a bigger carat weight , with an excellant to very good cut, but lower the clarity and color numbers?

That's up to you...What are you willing to sacrifice on? Color, clarity? I would never recommend sacrificing the cut, however. What's the lowest you feel comfortable going with on color? I'd suggest f-i and SI1 for clarity. With these specs you'll find the best deal. If you go down to J you can get a bigger stone and more so with K. If you find one of those with fluorescence that's even better.
