What is your thermostat set at?

We set it at 65 while we're home and 55 while we're out. The average highs have been in the 20s for the past couple weeks, though usually it's not this cold until January. (Connecticut)

It's a cold 65 though - MIL sets her house at the same temp and I'm always so much warmer there. On the weekends I always need to bundle up in our house to stay warm. I do like when it's freezing in the bedroom though so I can snuggle under our super warm comforter.

Have you had snow in your part of CT? I haven't and I'm quite upset. There's no point in having this cold without snow!

We had a teeny weeny bit this week - Monday night maybe? There's just a dusting on the ground, but it's stuck around since the temps are always in the 20s. We also had about an inch or two last Friday, but then it rained all day Saturday and washed it away. I'm up above the I-84 "snowbelt" (barely, since I practically live on the highway). The ocean is probably keeping you from having any. But I agree - I'd at least like to have a little snow! (it would be better if CT would actually salt the roads though so I could get out of my house when it snows)

I love that they put buckets of sand at intersections sooooooooooooooo helpful  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for monday night. But a reasonable amount like 2-3 inches I have to drive to old lyme on Tuesday to check out a gemlab.

It's been in the high teens to mid twenties for the part two weeks and my thermostat is set on 68 and the house is still horribly cold because we haven't replaced all of the old windows yet. I leave it at 65 when I'm out, but no lower than that because I don't want my dogs to be uncomfortable. The sad fact is- this year, there's nowhere in my house that's warm! I bought a new down comforter to sleep under.

Ours is set at 67. I live in the deep south but it has been cold here! We never set it this low before but these economic times are hard and we have a heat pump that actually costs more to run than having the AC run in the summer. I'm just glad this cold isn't normal. I hate winter.

I'm excited for the first big snow because DH and I can work from home and hang out together ::) Luckily our work is done completely by computer and working from home during a snowstorm is completely ok.

We're planning to move to NY state next year - can't wait for the salted roads! The sand is such a pain (and then I end up with sand in my house)

62 at night. 65 during the day. I hate paying a high electricity bill. If my DH is home before me, I find the thermostat at 70.

We also live in the south and the cold weather is a shock! We try to keep it around 64. sometimes we'll shoot it up to 66, 68, and it's programmed to go down to 62 at night. If I'm up and about, my limit is 63, 64, don't want to go lower than that.

We did get all new replacement windows but there are still lots of nooks and crannies that are not plugged properly, especially around our old doors.

I have hermit crabs and even though I have a side heater on at night and a heat bulb on during the day, I still can't get them in the right temperature range (72-85) :errrr: . While they were pretty active during the summer, all but one has buried themselves under ground. I hope I'm not hurting them! But I can't afford to run our house at tropical levels.

I am not in Connecticut at the moment, but I usually am. My daughter and I drove down to Virginia on Saturday, and at some point after that we heard from my father that it had snowed at his house. I felt bad for missing it, but then, today, it snowed here. For hours. Go figure. This happens to be an area that got great snowfall accumulations last year!

No idea... none of our heaters are turned on. It's WICKED cold outside but the floor heating handles it. I actually have the AC on in my room set to 18C because it's too hot in there at night for sleeping but opening the door would make it way too cold really fast and it heats up again fast so it's constant open door... shut door... open door... all night. I know how contrary it sounds, but this floor heat is really efficient.

We try to keep it between 64-66 during the day and 60 at night. Our last house had one of the thermostats that you could fully program with four different settings a day. It was great- it was set to warm up early in the morning, go cool when we left for work, warm up for our arrival home and then cool again at night. We don't have that now and it's a challenge to remember to change the settings when we leave. I shudder to think what our bill will be this month- it's been unseasonably cold in the south!
