I''ve always, ALWAYS wanted a summer (preferably June) wedding. BF wants a summer or spring wedding, because we both want it to be outdoors. But lately we''ve been discussing a winter wedding (so much cheaper, and since this''ll all be happening in NYC...ugh...expensive), but he made a joke about how it would overload all the special days he has to remember into one season (Christmas, wedding anniversary, my b-day, V-day)!

So I''ve made a poll! For the LIW, what season do you want to get married? Do your BFs have any strong preferences?

For the ladies who are engaged and have set their date, or for the married ladies, what season did you get married in, and was it same or different than what you had thought/hoped for?

Any special logistical problems, or other issues, that arose due to the season choice?

I clicked this topic really thinking that it was going to be a link to one of those glamour or cosmo polls. I love those cheesy things!

He likes Spring. I like Fall. We married on our anniversary, which is the Spring. I cared more about getting married on a meaningful date than anything else.

I''m very much a fall or winter bride. No spring or summer for me! And FF doesn''t care, so long as it''s not around our birthdays and other special occasions.

I would

to get married in Fall, either on Sept 25 or October 25. Both dates have significance

However, I want to elope, and I will do that pretty much any time I get a chance to. Anything is better than having a wedding! UGH!

We''re getting married in June (also in NYC).

That is what I''ve wanted since I started thinking about it, mostly because I wanted to get married outside (which we''re doing). We also had to plan around my school schedule. And, there are several weeks in the spring when one isn''t supposed to marry in our religion, so our wedding will be after this period, but (Hopefully!!) before it gets too hot.

I''ve always wanted a winter wedding. I think it''d be beautiful! When snow falls, its like peaceful blanket that covers the ground. I love the sound of snow -- silence. Plus, its our favorite season ;)

I said Summer.... my top choice would be June, but if we''re having a tough time with availability, we''ll stretch to May or July.

Ideal...spring

winter is my favorite season and i''ve always wanted a winter wedding. first choice would have been january or february, but because of my school/internship schedule we settled on the weekend before christmas (which is in seven days!). we won''t likely have a ton of snow here in MI, but it will still be lovely i hope

Fall. Absolutely a thousand times fall. Fall in Michigan is absolutely goregeous.

Fall 2010 it is!

I was a summer - not because I particularly love the season, but for both DH and me, work schedules are pretty lax. I will say that I love that we can make plans to go on an anniversary trip every year - and my b-day is in spring and DH's is in fall, so we have nice little mid-way point between our birthdays with our anniversary. :) Summer was also the best time for our parents and bridal party in terms of planning a wedding, and since I wanted all tea-length dresses, that worked out well too.

Fall and winter weddings are soooo beautiful - I love the idea of a seasonal theme. As a guest, I also love being able to wear a darker color cocktail dress to the reception. Because I live in the midwest, I'm not a fan of spring weddings. As a guest or a bride, you have noooo idea what kind of weather to plan for. Here, it's dead winter until one day you wake up and it's 60 degrees again.

I was an early Fall bride. Both our ceremony and reception were outdoors, under a completely clear sky with a temp. in the mid-seventies. My husband and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening.

I voted Winter... We will probably get married in Feb...

Summers in orlando are absolutely disguisting here....and Spring it rains... and Fall would be nice but we have school... and so that leaves us with winter which is perfect though :-)

Had to be summer.

First, the UK weather is yucky, but you are more likely to avoid rain/ in the summer. (My cousin got married in May and most people wore thick winter coats throughout the reception meal it was so cold - they had a marquee).

Secondly, my husband and I both work in politics - summer recess was the only guaranteed time that there would not be a General Election (ours have to be within 5 years of each other, but there is no set time).

Finally, my venue was only available during school holidays (but not August or September), so I ended up with a choice of a single Saturday - hence why I booked 19 months in advance!

Winter :) here in OZ the weather is sweltering in summer and I think winter is perfect, not to hot and not to cold :D

I''m getting married in June. As I''m in college it''s the only feasible time to do it and like Pandora, weather in Ireland is awful in winter. If I wasn''t in college a summer wedding or a Christmas wedding would have been my preference.

I keep imagining a casual warm weather barbecue reception sort of thing, but if we get married in England, I doubt anyone would be able to fly out to join us since the airfare is more expensive then. Of course, if we get married in the winter or late autumn when airfare isn''t so bad, the weather is yucky and wouldn''t make for a nice visit for everyone. So, I dunno.

We''ve moved our date up to February. I will be a winter bride!

Well, I plan on running away to a tropical island, so it''ll always be summer! I''d probably go for fall or spring. Winter already has a lot of holidays, with Christmas and our anni and Valentine''s day, and late spring/early summer has both of our birthdays, so I''d like something in between.

I would love to do a Spring Wedding, but probably more practical for Summer since kids are out of school and all that. More of my family would be able to attend if I did a Summer wedding. But i guess once i get that ring on my finger it depends on availability.

i would say at style/heart i am a winter bride... except also being a sagitarius and my bday being in december... i dont want to share:) so i have hopeing for spring, soley because i love cherry blossoms :)

Both of us really wanted fall. And that is when it will be!

I was going to click on Summer since we''re tentatively planning for a June 2010 wedding, but then I realized that I would be ok with a wedding at any time of the year. I would prefer a summer wedding for pics but the actual ceremony and reception all comes down to the atmosphere that I want to create, regardless of the weather. BF told me that he''d like an early summer (June) or early fall wedding (September).

We''re Summer, actually July 25.

I promised him it wouldn''t be during football season. So no Sept-Feb. My birthday, Spring Break, and Mother''s day, and about 5 other birthdays in our families are all in the Spring. Father''s day and July 4th are the only things we have during the summer. So we picked summer. We both love the idea of always having something to look forward too, and an anniversary at the end of July, which will be great because when we have kids it will be right before school starts, will always be a great reason to "get away".

Also, my family is all over the US and we have lots of kids, so this way they will all be able to travel, because they are not in school. This also allows all my friends that are teachers and coaches to come as well.

I definitely don''t want a summer wedding, because I do not do well in the heat, and in the Mid-Atlantic summer can get so muggy! I don''t want to be a sweaty frizzy bride! Other than that I would be fine with any season.

I''m a winter bride, getting married in 2 weeks! Mostly because I work in a school and had to work my wedding/honeymoon into one of the school vacations. The winter break gave me a couple of days off before the wedding and the entire week after off. FH and I were engaged on Christmas eve last year, and i''ve always loved the holiday time. I never wanted a summer wedding because the idea of being a sweaty bride did not appeal to me, esp with the yucky humid NY summers. Were I not a winter bride, the fall would be my next choice.

As long as it''s not late fall/winter. I don''t want it to be cold - but I don''t want it too hot either.

It''s gonna be an outdoor wedding so most likely Spring/Summer!

i''ve always wanted a winter wedding. I hate being hot!

BUT its also really mean of me to pick winter b/c we have so many other events then
nov-his bday
dec-my bday, christmas
jan-nye, anniversary
feb-valentine''s
its a gauntlet of present gifting in there. Though, I''m so not into anniversarys or v-day, so last year we combined and just went out to a nice dinner and ignored v-day for the most part. No gifts....it was so much better that way.

I am picking September so I guess its summer/fall....

I have always wanted to get married in the fall, but it was tricky to pick our date since FI's birthday is in the middle of September (and falls on a Saturday next year). FI was ok with having it on his bday, but I wasn't!
3.gif
Though it does cram all of our special days into the September through February time. It would be nice to have a special day in the summer.

ETA: I should add that fall is by far my favorite season and we both hate hot weather, so fall was the natural choice!
