What should I put in this setting???

What do you think of these?

One more...

Ooh another one...this is tanzanite?

How do you decide?? They are all soooo pretty!

While my very favorite stone is blue sapphire, I have to admit to liking the first two you posted best. I'm not sure if they are zircon or tourmaline (and too lazy to go figure it out :cheeky: ), but they would look great in that halo setting. I think the sapphire will likely be even darker in hand and oftentimes, setting stones darkens them further. Have you checked the depth of the setting to know that you have the room for a colored stone?

You've shown us 3 different colours and trying to choose one, in this case, is purely a personal preference. If you show us 3 blues that are similar in colouration, then CSers can explain why might prefer Blue #1 over Blue #2 and #3.

They are all sapphire's with the exception of the purplish tanzanite one. No I have not checked the depth yet that is probably something I should do  The stone I had it in was a 1.01 ct diamond but I suppose that doesn't really mean much.

I know I'm sorry I'm so all over the place with the color. The problem is I think they are all very pretty. I don't know how you narrow it down!

Of the 4, I like the 2nd one best -- is it a Montana sapphire? The greenish-blue is very pretty, saturation good, and imo it would look best of the 4 with white gold.

Yes your absolutely right! It is a Montana sapphire. How could you tell??

Let me throw one more in....

I have spent most of the day looking online at tons websites that cut/sell gems (found a list on an old thread) Is it me or does Gemfix.com seem a little on the higher side? Are these nicer stones than you find on other sites?

GemFix is a bit high but not unreasonably so. That said, they have a large inventory of blue sapphires of good quality and are well cut. It is easy to spot Montana sapphire from other blue sapphires by their green modifier, looking more teal or green blue.

Hi Crystal: the best list of vendors should be found on the pinned thread at the top of this page: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/can-we-start-a-new-thread-with-respected-cs-vendors.169561/

This should give you the most accurate list of existing vendors used by PSers. :praise:

There's a Montana sapphire at master cut gems that would fit, I imagine. 700.

I'm afraid to say that I think this would be considerably darker in most lighting situations.

Edited for grammar.

Good to know.

I've heard some say his photos are accurate. Some say the stones are better in person. I wasn't sure.

I also like this yellow Montana sapphire that Neil posted. The description says there are faint needles but it doesn't affect the appearance...what do you think? Will I be able to see these?

For me I'm a big fan of that yellow and the incisions wouldn't bother me.

But it isn't mine. ;)

I like it but I think the stone will pop more in a yellow metal setting.
