The moment I saw Dan''s paraiba I had to have it! I managed to luck out and get it.

It wasn''t what I was looking for, at all really, but couldn''t resist at that price! I''ve always wanted a paraiba but couldn''t afford a nice large stone so this one was perfect for me. So now, the question is, how do I set it? I was thinking LOGR halo initially but I''m still undecided. I keep going back and forth between simple bezel, halo, and 3 stone. I also thought about setting it as a pendant but I might get a crick in my neck from looking at it all of the time.

It was mailed out Monday so I should have it very soon!

Suggestions? How would you set it, or would you?

How big is it? What''s your finger size (if you don''t mind...)? Are your fingers/hands a bit stronger or more delicate? That should get you going

OOPS! Should have included the stone''s specs:

STONE: Paraiba Tourmaline
WEIGHT: .39 Cts.
CUT: Round Brilliant
DIMENSIONS: 4.80 mm
ORIGIN: Brazil
COLOR: Slightly Bluish Neon Green
CLARITY: Very Good+ (Eye Clean)

It''s just a baby.

I don''t have big hands but do have what I consider fat fingers. My wedding set is a size 8.75. So I''m worried that will make the stone look smaller on my hand, then again I worry that a halo would be too overpowering and make the stone look smaller but then again, it is small.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I''d go with a three stone something - this guy (or gal

) is too small to stand on it''s own, and too small not to get dwarfed by a halo. I''d also think about step cut sides (if you''ll consider diamonds) to avoid having too much bling around the center stone, and go with a white metal since the color is really delicate. All in all, something that will look gentle, subdued and...cute.

I second the bezel idea, or even a halo to make the stone appear larger. It''s so pretty!

ooo pretty! I vote a halo setting! The diamonds surrounding the stone will make the color pop!!

Oh Congrats on getting that it looks very pretty!

I got Dan''s Paraiba and Barry''s Tourmaline in the mail yesterday! I''m VERY happy with both!

I attempted to take pictures but none came out that great. I have decent ones that I''ll share but I am 100% convinced that I need a new camera.

Here they are!

Yikes! Sorry, that came out blurry and big...try again...

So, with more pictures would that change the suggestions so far?

brandy- the little tourmaline is so pretty! The color is much more vibrant than Dan''s photo. If you do a halo, I would make sure that it is very petite and delicate since it''s not a large stone.

bezel or very delicate halo as stated by icekid...

Thank you all so much!

This is the halo I have in mind:

I guess if I do get it and decide it''s not right for the paraiba I can always find a different stone for it.

May I recommend yellow gold for your paraiba. They usually look their best in yellow gold. My favorite paraiba dealer says the same thing.

Absolutely! I''m off to browse for some yellow gold paraiba images. It seems like most of what I''ve seen so far has been white gold. Thank you!

I second the yellow gold. TL has TDF blue stones in yellow settings...

Hi Brandy,

What a FUN project!!! I can''t wait to see what you get!!!

Thanks Mochi. I have some posted in my gallery under "finger full of cuprians."

Brandy,
LOGR can make any setting in 14 or 18K yellow gold. Only the 18K yellow gold has an additional charge to it.

I like the halo that you have in mind, but also think it would work well in a 3 stone ring or a stacking ring. Beautiful stone!

The halo you found is too large for the stone IMO. I''d try to find something thinner.

Thank you all for the compliments and suggestions! They are very much appreciated!

I''ve been thinking, and if anything happened to this stone I''d be more than heartbroken. It would be nearly impossible for me to replace it. So now I''m leaning towards a pendant. It would be a safer option.

TL - You have some gorgeous cuprian rings!
