My little brother is a groomsman in my wedding next month and FI and I are having a really hard time thinking of something to get him for his gift. Because he''s so young, we can''t give him a flask, cigar set, or bottle of scotch and he''s not into cuff links yet. My older brother got married last year and gave him a pocket watch, so a watch is out of the question. He''s really into sports (basketball, football, lacrosse, track) and music/drama.

Ideas??? budget is probably around $50

as tacky as it might sound - video games? Does he play any instruments? If so, maybe something from a music store (like drum sticks?)
Ipod nano? I think those are cheap now?

What about 2 tickets to a sporting event? or a concert? or framed memorabilia? (what teams or players does he like?)

It won't "last" a long time, but what does last that a 16yr old buy owns anyway.

i know it''s not very traditional but an ipod would be appreciated by a 16 yr old, or you could find out who he likes in particular (in regards to sports) and buy him some sort of signed memorabilia?

Not quite the same thing but when my sister got married she wrote to a couple of super bike riders and they sent her posters that they had signed and written notes on for her husband, she had them framed and gave them to her husband at the reception, they now hang in their living room.

Henry and I are super close, so I''d really like to get him something somewhat sentimental as opposed to tickets to an event, an ipod, or video games. He has an ipod and more games than he knows what to do with anyway! I guess I should take a look at sports mem. But can I really get something decent for $50?

A wallet with some sort of engraving? A hard-drive filled with pictures from your wedding (and if possible, holiday pictures of family gatherings from when you were little)? A nice formal belt?

Who are his favorite teams/players? Many times you can find a card, photograph or ball that is autographed for under this amount, depending on the player or team.

If he''s really into music/drama maybe you can purchase him a package of music or voice lessons? I know I would love some guitar lessons! :)

I actually think that tickets are highly personal. It shows that you really know about him and his tastes--especially if you got him some for a big rivalry game. But, if pro or college, it would cost way more than $50 (especially since you couldn''t get him just one). What about sporting equipment? I know lacrosse is a high-cost sport to participate in. Could he use a new stick or head? Those might be more than $50, too.

I just don''t think that people that age view sentiment in the same way, and I don''t think "adult gifts" would have the same effect.

I guess that he just might like the flask and scotch

. I would have at 16

. But, it would make the RD really uncomfortable.

I agree with sports equipment. Maybe you can give him a certificate to a shop somewhere. What sports does he play?

What about a simply piece of jewelry? ID bracelet, dog tags, or simple ring? This website is pretty awesome I think!

Hmm... I see what you''re saying about tickets of some sort, but I still think this is a good option.

While it seems to lack some "personal" or "memorabilia" touch, you can add that by writing him a special card or note that he can keep and cherish. I feel like jewelry, flasks, etc just don''t get used and are often tossed away. I love to keep special notes and cards, though, and I know that my FI does as well (he has a little box of them! And he keeps concert tickets, too!)... so its not just a woman-thing.

I would definately get him an Ipod if he doesn''t have one, or something along those lines.
