Hi everyone! I'm new. Found this website a week ago, and now I'm completely hooked!

I inherited this gorgeous garnet ring from my Mom. It's about a 5+ carat garnet with 3 diamonds on each side.

Can anyone tell me what type of gem cut is the garnet?

I can't seem to figure out how to upload a file so I put the picture on my photobucket account.

welcome. i see you have an eye to appreciate kenny's collection!

however, i have no idea what the cut is on your ring. perhaps someone else will give an opinion?

Welcome

I would call that a step cut oval.

to get your photos in your posts look below the text window. Chose the tab "upload attachment" then chose your file and upload. Then put your cursor where you want the picture to go and click place inline.

???

I'm genuinely curious.
I see no reference to me or my stuff on the OP, unless (s)he has edited it out.

Kenny, she commented on your fancy colored diamond collection. Another post.

I don't know what type of cut it is either.

Kenny, I posted on your fancy colored diamond thread. The one with the grater. :)

I even sent a link to a friend who is into photography. Your photographs are stunning! Of course, it does help to have a pretty subject. :)

It looks like a mixed cut of sorts - almost step cut. Definitely what most would consider a "native" cut. Not sure if there is a definitive name for it.

It definitely has a step cut crown. If the pavilion is a step cut, then its a step cut oval. If it's anything other than a step cut pavilion, it's a mixed cut oval. Other than that, I dont think there is any specific cut you can call it.

Thanks everyone!
