What type of treats take you back to your childhood?

Pupp - Chik-o-Sticks!!!!!!!!!! Yummmmm They definitely take me back. My DH surprises me with them every so often :lickout:

Also: Fun Dip, and those marshmallow ice cream cones. Oh, and candy dots.

I LOVE FUN DIP! mmm cherry!

I love anything "red flavored" ... red and pink is usually the best tasting of anything.

Honeycomb - the real stuff, wax, honey and pollen. Sooooo yummy to chew on like bubblegum :lickout:

hawaiian, we call those jelly apples or candied apples here.

Thanks gemgirl! Candied apples makes sense. :))

Mmmm Fun Dip!!!

I also fondly remember the original Tang. I used to drink it until my nose turned orange as a toddler. It was so much better back then...the one they have now is just so weak.

Animal crackers in a circus car box
Dunkin Donuts Munchkins
Dairy Queen chocolate-dipped soft-serve
Tastykake chocolate cupcakes
Squeeze-Its

Skittles! That was always the candy I chose when my parents got us treats.

salted peanuts dropped into a small Coke or Dr. Pepper bottle - fizz, fizz :lickout:
probably a very Southern thing.

Butterfingers and Baby Ruths :lickout:

Big ditto to both of these!!!
Also Nerd blizzards from dairy queen. My mom thought they were so gross, she never wanted us yo order then.

Yes I would call those candied apples, while caramel apples are covered in caramel and often chopped peanuts. Affy Tapples is just a brand of caramel apples.

I remember those marshmellow cones and also dots on paper as well! My mom restricted our candy and sweets intake (also soda, sweetened cereal, etc) because we were rabid for them. So the vast majority of time the only sweets we had were cookies my Greek grandmother made or things at the Church festivals. But i've tried pretty much all the candies mentioned in here, both from Halloween, and also when we visited our grandparents, our grandparents would give us change and let us go to a corner store with a huge selection of candy. Probably tried everything in that store at some point, including the candy cigarettes and wax bottles with sugar water in them.

The other big regular treat we had was space food sticks (fudge flavor). Our mom would dole them out so each kid had the same number (4?) and we tried to make them last as long as we could.

Pop Rocks
Pudding Pops
Orange Push-ups
Big League Chew
Homemade Rice Krispies treats
Frozen bananas dipped in chocolate
Oh, and those McDonald's cherry pies were so delish!

They used to make this gum that came in like a little milk carton. They came in pieces kind of like big Nerds. Anyone remember those?

TG, you just reminded me - nerds! Love those candies. Starbursts too, though I only like the red and pink flavored ones for the most part (though the older I get the more open I've become to trying the other flavors ::) )

I really struggled on this one - I mostly only remember eating my mom's homemade baked goods, so making her chocolate chip cookie recipe definitely takes me back. Rice krispie treats too - I still loooove those things.

We used to get Chips Ahoy cookies and I was allowed to have 2 after dinner. They taste horrible now though :nono: Definitely not the same.

Those ice cream bars with the crunchy stuff on the outside - they came in chocolate and strawberry, but I always got chocolate. What the heck are they called? I used to get one whenever we went to the public pool. Mmmm

No bake fudge cookies, especially warm and gooey--I never waited for them to cool.
Bottle caps--My best friend and I used to ride our bikes 15 miles to the Dollar General store to buy them for 10 cents a pack. We'd lie to our parents and tell them we were out in the woods exploring.
Orange Hi-C--My Dad always let me have one when when we played Contra together.
My mom's potato salad--"Potato salad isn't a treat" you say. But you'd be wrong!

ETA: I almost forgot about Reeses Peanut Butter cups--back when they came in a foil pack and the chocolate was hard while the peanut butter was creamy (now it all seems to have the same texture).

NEL, your post about the Reece's reminded me of the old packaging for Nestle Crunch bars. Back when they were in foil and the paper sleeve? Oh, one of those out of the fridge or freezer on a hot summer day was the BEST! Now they're in some plasticy wrapper that's not nearly as fun. The old ones made me want to sing "I've got a golden ticket" b/c they were like the Wonka bars from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

ETA: Old Crunch. Yay!

New Crunch. Boooo.

Anyone here have an easy bake oven? We would be patiently waiting for the brownie to cook and our darn brothers would swoop in and remove the brownie before it was done cooking and eat it before our eyes! And we had to save our money to buy the mixes!

Gobstoppers, mint chocolate brownies (mom's specialty) and every Christmas making butter cookies with red and green sugar sprinkles... and wow, thinking about making those with my mom is making me tear up a little ;(

I had a pink one when I was little. I used to love those little round cake pans. So cute!

Cherry Fizzies - tablets you would drop in a glass of water andwatch them fizz - like instant soda!

Chicklets and fruit stripe gum

Candy buttons, candy bracelets, candy necklaces

bubble gum candy cigarettes

Marshmallow cones

Pez

black and brown licorice
