So...the how did you meet stories were fun...how about some first date stories?

My BF sent me an e-mail (I think I still have it!) that basically said 'sorry for sending this via e-mail, I wanted to get my words right...you seem really cool, do you want to go to dinner this Friday? no pressure or anything' (he did write in complete sentences :) so I said sure :) I saw him at work the next morning and it was kind of awkward, and then after our class in the afternoon I followed him down the hallway to his office. He said...so...do you still want to go to dinner? And I was like sure! So he picked me up at 6, we went to dinner at this good restaurant, but I only got a cup of soup because I was nervous/not that hungry, then we went back to his apt and watched Spinal Tap, and then he kissed me! Apparently he had never kissed a girl on the first date before but he felt it was the right thing to do :) Oh yeah and then after that I fell asleep on his shoulder :) I guess I was tired! Luckily he thought it was cute. We both updated our facebook statuses that night to not say 'in a relationship' but not say 'single' (teehee we were silly)

I can't believe we are 3 years after this and now live together in an apartment where my ring is hiding!

Hmm I guess I would count our first date as going out to dinner before our senior prom. We went to my favorite Italian restaurant that sadly doesn't exist anymore. It was a really wonderful night and I remember the whole thing perfectly after over 6 years! He was sooooo nervous, it was adorable!

If I don't count prom then sadly I have no idea what our first date was. We used to always just go out with a whole bunch of our friends all the time :?, never really alone (not to dinner at least)

Hm I'm not sure what the first date was because we were good friends prior to being together (and actually it was pretty complicated for the first couple of months) so even before we were together we would go out to dinner and stuff. But we were in all the same classes together and we started hanging out in the library a lot. A couple months after we became close friends, I went out of town for a grad school interview basically, and when I got back I asked if we could meet up in the library to go over whatever it was I missed in class while I was gone. When we got to the library he realized he left his power cord for his computer in his apartment, so we walked back to his apartment (it was an on campus apartment so it was close) and one thing led to another, and now he we are!

Things really were complicated for a good 9-10 months but I feel we are so strong now because of it. A lot of the complications that happen a few years into a relationship or after marriage even, kind of got hashed out in that initial period (which is backwards, I know, but its how it happened). I used to feel sad about it, but now I realize that things are meant to happen the way they do and perhaps that is why our relationship is so strong now.

I was a beach lifeguard and he came up to ask what I was doing later. I didn't have plans so I agreed to meet him and his friends at a local bar. About 10 drinks later, I forced him to take me back to his place, even though he kept saying he just wanted to drop me off at home because I was too drunk. I insisted and so we went back to his place and had what I thought would be a one-night stand, only that boy just kept calling lol. We have been together for more than four years, married for 1.5 :) I would say we are the exception, NOT the rule. I wouldn't recommend that tactic to everybody lol.

One of those halloween nights at a local amusement park, no better way to start a relationship than with rides and haunted houses to scare you both! Oh and I offered to share my candy apple...and the rest is history.

Well we met on a blind date, so that was our first date. It's so fun to think back on it though!

Since my best friend dated his best friend, we decided to make it a double date. My best friend and her boyfriend picked us both up. I remember getting into the back of the car and seeing him for the first time. I thought he was so incredibly adorable. I seriously could not get over how cute he was! We went bowling first. BF made his first "fumble" of the night when we were getting our bowling shoes. I wasn't sure if he was going to pay for me or not. Well I went to get my shoes and the guy behind the counter started yelling at me because the guy I was with hadn't paid for his shoes. So I ended up paying for both. BF was so embarrassed and apologized profusely. The rest of bowling was very awkward because BF and I are both incredibly shy. So, it was hard for us to keep a conversation going at first. After bowling we went and got ice cream (which he gladly paid for).

Then we went to rent a movie to watch. Of course, while we were in the movie store, my best friend and I walked away from her BF and my BF so that we could talk. She asked me what I thought of him and of course I said that I really liked him and her BF found out the same from my BF. We watched the movie and BF ended up falling asleep right next to me because the movie was horrible. After that, my friend and her BF drove us to get my BF's truck. We talked more on the way home than we had the rest of the night. Once we pulled into my driveway, he asked for my number and then realized he had nothing to write it down on (no cell phone). So, I got his and called him the next day.

We talked for hours and hours each night after that first date. We were both still in high school and would stay up until 3 or 4 AM just to talk to each other. The rest of our dates were the same way. We never wanted them to end. :P We didn't have our first kiss until 2 or 3 weeks after our first date. Thinking about those first few months always puts this huge silly grin on my face! :D

What great stories! DH and I went to the local diner for dinner and we talked for hours it was such a great date that I look back fondly on.

the commercial landscaping company he works for also owns a winery. they were having a wine tasting/patio/band party one night and he took me :)

funny, the winery is actually where we're getting married, so it's coming full circle!

Like RhubarbPie's story, mine too was complicated and full of up and downs. I don't really know what our first date was. I was still married (but seperated) when my now-fiancee and I started becoming friends. (For those that don't know, I was married to a man, in a bad/negative marriage, realized I was gay, told him I wanted a divorce, then started being friends with my now GF/fiancee) She and I would meet up for dinners or concerts and we could never really say we were dating until my divorce was final. There was a lot of gossip and BS being spread about us that was totally untrue, so it really did spoil a lot of the "oh how cute"-ness of the beginning of our relationship. I'm actually so relieved the first six months are now fading from memory and that my new memories of the super good stuff are almost all I can remember :)

I also have a "not sure what our real first date was" situation. I met him through my old work, but the first few times hugn out outside of work was with other friends. The first time we hung out alone (which we usually think of as our first real date), was when he came over and we exchanged mix cd's we made for each other. He came by right when I got out of work and we did a quick scan of what was on each of the cd's and then we went to a happy hour. We both had a few drinks, but sat there talking for hours. I was shockingly not hungry (hello nerves!) and we went back to my apartment and sat in my room talking till about 2am. JUST TALKING! I was anxiously waiting for him to kiss me that night, which much to my disappointment did not happen that night, but was well worth the wait when it finally did!

We met online and after talking for a while we decided to meet up. We went to this nearby park not to far from where he lived and just hung out until late. I love parks and I go to that park at least once a week to exercise. I secretly wish he would propose there I think it would be sweet.

Our first date was a lunch date. We work in what is essentially the same building, so we figured lunch would be an easy thing. We went to a place that was about a 15 minute walk away from our offices, ate lunch, had a great time, then walked around the downtown area for the next 45 minutes or so. Lunch that day ended up being a 2.5 hour affair. :twirl: And all of that was after SO got called out to work at like 11pm the previous night, hadn't gotten done until around 5am that morning, and wasn't even going to go into work that day due to the late night, but didn't want to call off lunch with me!

We had such a great time at lunch that we then went out again that very same night! We had an awesome time, and the rest is history.

I love that we had so much fun on our first date, the lunch one, that we couldn't even wait another day to go on a second one!

My first date story is not rated G. :Up_to_something:

Mine is sort of embarrassing. I have another one of those "not sure when our first date was" situations, since our first date wasn't originally planned as a date. But it ended up being one.

FI and I went to the same high school and had some mutual friends (he's two years older than me). Years later, I either saw him on a friend's Facebook or he was in my "people you might know" section or something. I don't remember. It resulted in me adding him as a friend, and not thinking much else about it.

It turns out that FI didn't remember who I was. He ended up asking one of our mutual friends who I was, and I guess our friend reminded him that we went to high school together and that I was cool or something to that effect. Somehow this resulted in FI accepting my friend request, deciding I was cute from my pictures, and private messaging me something about how he wanted to know what I was up to since high school and that we should hang out sometime (at this point, not mentioning the fact that he had no idea who I was several minutes ago).

We chatted online for a while (we lived more than 4 hours apart at this point). One weekend, we were both home - which was conveniently in between our two locations. We were chatting online, and I think I was complaining about my crappy day, so he offered to buy me a drink since we were in the same town. We met up at a local place. Long story short, the waitress got my first drink order wrong. This resulted in her bringing me several free drinks. I want to point out here that this is uncharacteristic of me. I don't drink often, but when I do, I don't hold my liquor real well. So I was very intoxicated. I insisted that he take me to Walmart (the only place open in this town late at night) to buy something very important. By the time we got there, I think I had forgotten what I needed. The night ended in our making out on his mother's front lawn around, oh, 3am. I was drunk enough to where I probably would have, uh, gone further. But he insisted that he take me home.

So like I said, embarrassing. When people ask how we met, I almost always just say that we went to high school together.

Oh boy hahahahahah. I will post it if you guys SWEAR not to think differently of me. My first date with SO was when I was 19 so keep that in mind!

P.S. since cliff hangers are fun, I won't post the story till later :) Gotta leave you wanting more, right? :Up_to_something:

Our first date was your average "meet in a public place since we met online" sort of thing. Lunch at a restaurant in the mall...then he needed to buy something for his mom (this was right before Christmas) so I did that with him as well. Our second date was way more interesting. Because of timing, work schedules, family stuff, etc., the first chance we could have for our second date was on Christmas Eve. He was staying with his parents and my parents were staying with me. So when we were both done doing family stuff, he came and picked me up. Being Christmas Eve, everything was closed (it was probably 8pm). BUT we live in Nevada, so there's always casinos! One of the casinos had a bar that had a country band playing (and because it was the only thing going on, it was actually packed). We stayed there and talked until 2am or so. It was pretty fun, maybe we'll make it a tradition.

OMG you have to tell!!! We won't think differently of you!

So my story is:

We ran into each other at a bar (I have known him from highschool 7 years prior and was best friends with his brother), facebooked, got each others numbers and made a time to just meet up for some drinks (he was with his group of friends and I was with mine, so it wasn't an actual date.) I just remember how odd it was, because we have already been talking for a few days and flirting.. Well.. I get to the bar around 11:30pm, and he was so completely drunk! He just sat at the table and kept repeating "My god, your so pretty- Your gorgeous" and he just kept looking at me really funny. It was funny but a little odd. I won't lie, I wasn't totally sober either. We danced some, but I found it cute and weird that he was just interested in me the entire night!

So.. the next day he apologized and said he probably made a complete a** out of himself and wanted to go on a date, SOBER, just him and I. So we did. We went to a local restaurant (our favorite now!) and then went to the movies. He was so nervous at first ut we clicked, and we were so comfortable around each other and it was perfect! Now were ALMOST engaged, and we couldn't be happier!

Cmon autumn girl!!! Spill it baby! I will think differently of you: I'll think you're one hot tamale now!

I totally agree with luckynumber!

spill it!!!!!

First real date was out to sushi (because after he bought me breakfast I told him "uhh...you should probably buy me dinner now").

At sushi we ordered what I considered to be a reasonable amount of food to share. However, he eats SO fast and assumed anything still on the plate is fair game that he gobbled up most of the food before I even had a chance to eat much! I didn't want to make him order more food, since that seemed greedy, so I went home hungry.

Now when we go eat sushi we order an epic ton and I hoard pieces on my plate and smack his hand away!

Aw some of these are so cute. way cuter than ours haha... we went to Chipotle. We have a lot of mutual friends so it wasn't like he "asked me out" so much as just asked if I wanted to grab food before we met up with a bunch of people for the evening. Not the most romantic first date but definitely the start of something good.

its coming guys..I promise.

I am so waiting on the edge of my seat for this!

I always promise I'll write stuff at night but then when I get back from the same place I go every night (my best friends), I'm exhausted. I'm going to take a test right now for my wonderful (ugh) Anatomy and Physio class and I'll be back to type up the story. I hope it will be worth the wait haha

We talked online for 5 months before meeting. I was scared to death to meet him because I'd never met anybody online before. So we kept making dates and I kept breaking them. Finally one day he said he knew it wasn't kosher but what if he came to my place and we watched a movie. I said ok and gave him my address knowing that now I couldn't break the date.

We watched a movie, made out and then watched Iron Chef. Iron Chef is still our nighttime show to watch 5.5 years later! :appl:

He didn't leave that night and he and his dog stayed most nights until I moved into his house. Now we're engaged and will be married in 5 short months!
