What was your Summer Job as a teenager??

All these stories are so cooool. When Judi told me about her post ....I thought....OOOOHHHH I'll talk about my job @ Target. Everyone knows Target. Can't live without it. And it's almost impossible to go in that store and not spend @ least $100 on stuff you probably don't need. I've tried many many many times to not succum to it but I give in every darn time. I could never live in the country where the nearest Target is 20 miles away. OH NO...don't even ask. I know how to get to work, my parents house, the mall and Target. Anywhere else.....I need specific directions. My middle name is "U-Turn". I have to have one of those compass things. I'm getting a lot better about finding my way when I venture out to a new place. I don't understand why my brain shuts down when it comes to directions. I just don't pay attention to my surroundings. I'm too busy singing to the songs on the radio or one of my CD's. And it doesn't help that my car has very very dark tint. I can't see anything @ night. Although.....that dark tint comes in handy during the summer, when I drive by a construction site and so people don't see me singing. I would die !!!!!

Back in the day we went to Chuck E's many times w/ my kids and to lots & lots of kiddie parties. I had fun playing the video games. I like Pac Man, Ms Pac Man, or my old time favorite Centipede.

Other jobs I had as a kid/teenager include: working on a farm, babysitting (I always got lucky and had great kids), putting on comedy/singing shows w/ my best friend @ my church for special events, and washing cars.

My summer job consisted of helping my best friends family pick pickles in the scorching heat for about a week (all I could take). It paid pretty good for a teenage girl, but the work was terrible. The plants had thorn like stems and they would tear my hands up. And the HEAT.....

. I ended up getting a pretty good tan that summer.

"Picking pickles in the summer heat" I'd last about 2 seconds. Here in Houston we can't even breathe in the summer heat, let alone pick pickles! It's already about 100 degrees in the afternoons here....YUCK! I always feel so so bad for the people working outdoors here in summertime. Don't know how they can do it. . . and we complain because our air conditioning is too cold at work!!!

Judy,

I can't believe I even stuck it out the whole week. We had a small drought that year, I was surprised anything would grow in that heat~! But, I needed to pay for a summer camping trip with my friends so I didn't have any other choice. And they paid cash at the end of every day.
It was like $50 each day, and for a 16 year old girl, that was pretty good back then.
Though, there is NO amount of money that could ever make me do it again. I am way to girlie for it now
