Anyone else curious as to how they will cut this?
Marquis? Two RBs?

What do you think?

I was wondering the same thing.
It's hard to get a full sense of the shape of the rough from one pic, but given only this pic I'd guess oval, pear or marquise.

This angle makes me think two stones.

Probably 2 ovals, 2 pears or 1 of each.

Yeah you could do two pears with that shape.

I see a pear and a marquise in that rough!

I think they'll try hard to get one large blue out of it, no matter how goofy the shape, instead of two small nicely shaped ones.
One reason is the $$$$ per carat is MUCH more for one larger blue.
Second, the more material the light travels through the stronger the color grade, again more $$$$$$.

I agree with regards to preserving colour, and hence the price, including rarity of size but if so, it's going to end up a really strange shape or there will be cut issues.

Wouldn't it just be cut into one large pear, or am I missing something in the photo?

There's a pretty deep depression almost right down the center of the rough. See the second photo.

Most FCDs have cut issues since color and weight are king.

Looking at the first photo, I'd have said one big pear or cushion with some littlies of whatever shape from the leftovers. But that second photo makes me think a nice big pear from the left half, and an elongated cushion or radiant from the right half with a trillion or round(s) from the small middle bit leftover.

Whatever they do, I'd love to have a piece of it. Hells bells I love blue diamonds.

Agreed. I would bet on two stones as well.

I agree on two or more stones.
It's just that I don't think they'll saw it in half to get two stones that are both as large as possible.
I think their priority will be to get one single blue diamond that is as large as possible.

Then with the left over rough the'll get a second stone that's as large as possible.
If there is still any left over rough they'll also maximize the size of the third stone, and so on.

Most of the profit will come from that first stone being as large as possible.
They'll get more profit from one poorly cut 6-ct than from two well-cut 3-ct.
