Whats on your gemstone buying list for the rest of the year (Or longer-like in my case)?

Mine consists of:
*1 large lavender square or fat rectangular cushion cut about 3 carats and up (Preferably a sapphire, but I''m open)

*1 band-aid (brownish, orange-y, pinkish) colored radiant, oval or cushion cut stone (prefer radiant or rectangular cusion) about 1-2carats

*Any color asscher cut stone (on the larger end-2+carats)

*1 large skinnier pear in a light blue-blue green color-and HUGE-(20+ carats, about 20mm long or so, and in this case, bigger is better)

*1 moonstone (up for debate, but over 2 carats-it''s BFs birthstone)

*1 bright pink stone (maybe sapphire or spinel- and totally open to any shapes 1+ carats)

*1 mint garnet-oval, round (1 ct-up)

*1 light blue sapphire (This sucker would have to be special-basically, I''ll know it when I see it)

*And a apple green peridot-any shape

I have to admit I''m not really a fan of corners, so not big on any princesses, not a huge emerald fan and no hearts (ick) but I''m ok with trillions.

Right now, I''m concentrating on that lavender cushion, because I''m totally picky about it...let me know if you see any!!!

Nuthin left on my list.....I spent all the $$ today!

Ooh! Good idea for a thread Freke

For me:

Orange-Red Spessartite Garnet - round or cushion 2ct+

African Spinel in a step cut. Colour...undecided. 1.5ct+

I would also snap up a peridot as per your list. There is 10ct peridot at Richard Homer''s site that I drool over. Unfortunately it''s is a bit beyond my gemstone buying budget even if it were still available (I think his site is pretty out of date)

I will also most likely purchase some gemstone rough before the end of the year. I am going to do some cabbing classes, hopefully to start before the end of the month

So we''ll see where that leads.

Well it''s a nice kind of broke then LS. Enjoy it!!

Pieface, have fun with the cabbing!

I'm done for the year, but here's my list for the longer-term:
1. A Paraiba.
2. A Mahenge red/pink spinel.
3. A Kashmiri-type sapphire.

Well, I''ve already gotten a couple of stones on my wishlist this year...my 4.1 ct green aquamarine and a .67 ct red Burmese ruby. Now, I''ve got a Jeff White pink sapphire on the way.

I''m hoping to attend another Richard Homer roundtable, and perhaps pick up a citrine or amethyst briollet. They were amazing last year, but alas, were snapped up before I could get them.

LostSapphire, does that mean JW found you a stone?! Eee!

I want either a sapphire or spess in a cushion cut, around 2-3 carats. And something red/pink in an asscher cut! Do you have to have stuff like that custom cut? I REALLY want one.

A 2carat sapphire.

The latter will probably have to be custom cut.

LostSapphire, did you get the round one??????????

It''s in her avatar...I bet she went for it. YAY!

Yeah she did Catmom!!!I can''t wait to see it set!

I hope none cos'' I have been buying too many chanel bags! I''d always thought my only vice is jewelry, but now.. Sigh, the other forum is not good for me..

Still on my wishlist are: a bright 5-7ct mandarin spessartite, 3-5ct green tsavorite, 2-3ct untreated burmese royal blue sapphire in a cushion shape, a neony bluish green paraiba or mozambique tourmaline (i prefer bluish green to greenish blue ones). So far these hasn''t turned up (in terms of right colour, intensity, no windows, right shape, right size etc) - which is good!

LostsSapphire, the round sapphire looks beautiful!

Anything that combines pink, jeff and asscher sounds yummy! Pink what?

Frekechild, there is a very pretty pale blue sapphire on thegemtrader.com

My list is long term too. I want a well cut bright red or hot pink spinel, but a pink sapphire would be nice too.
Wouldn''t mind a peridot either and I''d like a garnet in every color.

This year, no more

Next year, I need to decide between resetting my sapphire or buying a new colored stone. Right now a pad is on the top of my list of things I want.

To be honest, I''m not picky, as long as it is a really vibrant color. Probably a spinel :)

thankyou SS. How very kind of you to compliment the stone.

(though I *must* say, the colour is TDF!!!)

Well the rhyme certainly made me giggle!

I am thinking a solitaire necklace for now. I''d put it in a ring but then I wouldn''t get anything done because I''d keep staring at it

I think I''m going to go gem shopping for specific stones tomorrow at a couple of local gem stores...providing I don''t see anything on the net before then...

Doopy doopy doo...This is what you''re supposed to do when you get your stimulus check right?

Thanks for the tip innerkitten!!!Gorgeous perfect color, but I was hoping for a different shape. The last 6 out of 7 stones I''ve bought were rounds and I need some fancy shapes!!

Garnets....

I''m not allowed anything else for the next couple of years except... when I''m in Sri Lanka. Then I am allowed to buy other things too.
