Thinking of buying.............have seen and it''s beautiful. It''s almost in the pocket, need some re-assurance.

Cushion Brilliant
11.47 x 10.14 x 6.55
6.02 weight
I Color
VS1
Polish: VG
Sym: G
Flor: None
Cut: VG
TD: 64.6
TS: 53
Girdle: Tn to Tk

Close to 6 figures.

You guys/gals have been great with the help and comments.

Thanks.

Who assigned those grades? GIA? AGS? EGL? IGI, the person/store selling it? (I'm assuming GIA, based on the wording)
Is being sold at a garage sale, estate sale, Craiglist, pawn shop, Internet vendor, corner jewelry store, high-end retailer on Fifth Ave in NY?

All these things affect the price.

Cut is the most important factor that determines the beauty of a diamond.
VG from GIA means little to me as even their Excellent cut grade includes so so cut diamonds IMHO.
You need Idealscope pics and ASET pics to evaluate cut.

I just did a quick search using the tool bar above and saw your diamond listed for $109K by a PS vendor. There were a couple of J/VS cushions in the same size in the low $80s and a few H/SI EGL stones in the $40s - $60s. There were also several GIA H/VS stones way over the six figure mark, so all in all, if you love the stone, I''d just go for it and not worry too much--it seems like a fair price!

HI:

What''s it worth--what you are willing to pay for it I suppose. And you liked the way it looked IRL--not a small point.

GOG has some large cushions under 60K, but not of the exact same color, weight or clarity--so valid compairsons are out. And are GIA certed.

cheers--Sharon

It''s GIA. In fact, dated 12/23/2009.

Just FYI.

HI:

Are they willing to negotiate on price?

cheers--Sharon

I have numerous emails with Jonathan.

He is great and would buy from him if I had not seen the above mentioned diamond.

Still not sure, but.............

This looks like a keeper.

If you like Jonathan. . . and you like this stone. . . he may be able to get it for you.
Ask Jonathan what his price is, and what his trade up and refund policies would be for it.

Even if his price is the same the other benefits of buying from GOG may clinch the deal.

ETA:

I have a largish ER ring and the cut of the stone (radiant) tends holds body color more than other cuts. This bothers me. Hence I like the I color of "your" stone and see on GOG's website that at present there is nothing in your target carat weight in an I color.

cheers--Sharon

I looked at H''s and I looked at J''s. Could absolutely see the differentce between the color''s whne placed beside each other. I then looked at some others with calrities that were SI2, SI1, VS''s and this diamond looked the best of all of them. Even saw the inclusions with the SI1''s.

When everyone is done reviewing, wil show the GIA report but just want to be sure before I pull the trigger. It''s a bunch of money, but the wife is worth every bit of it.

Thanks and keep reviewing this diamond.

To answer all.............yes, have looked at the stone extensively.

And will probably pull the trigger on it this AM. Also, has given a decent price for the trade.

So thanks to all and if I can get pictures, will post

have you seen it in person?

Yes.

Wife and I spent 3 hours in the city yesterday looking at 14 stones (same dealer).

We made the decision about 2 hours ago and pulled the trigger on purchasing the stone in the opening post, which by the way is GIA, December, 2008 and traded in her 3.69 K VS2 GIA, December 2009. Do I think I could have done better with the price/trade???? Who knows and at this point, who cares. My wife is happy and so that makes me "very" happy.

She picked the setting, dealer will pick the 2 side stones and should be ready the end of next week. Wired the money and he is letting her send her ring next Monday, so she can wear in New Years night and also to 2 parties on Friday and Saturday night.

Have asked for pictures of the diamond and also pics of the finished product (since some of you know my picure taking skills are wanting).

But thanks for all the help.

We let the jeweler pick the 2 side stone to match color/clarity to the center diamond.

I do have 2 pictures that the guy making the setting has taken. I complain about my photo abilities.......these are almost as bad.

Will post tomorrow.........time to leave for the hockey game.

Thank you for the kind words.

I will post one picture and my wife says to also post................she hates the setting that it''s mounted into and is having her setting custom made with 2 side diamonds.

Also, rmember the guy taking the pictures is one of the workers and not the dealer or man making the setting.

Here it is:

HI:

Classic choice for setting! Yum!

Yes, I love that type of three stone. The diamond looks lovely! How long had your wife had the K you traded? Musn't have been long since the cert was dec 09. Just curious. ETA Just read back and see that you graded your current diamond prior to the trade. Good choice.

Who is making your setting? Looks like Leon.

I think I''m gonna love the 2nd setting as much as the first. Please do post pictures of the completed ring & thanks for sharing.

It''s going to be stunning!!

Please do come back with finished pictures
