What''s "You" about your wedding?

Great thread! At first I was nervous when I started thinking about this because I had posted not too long ago that our wedding is moving/has moved away somewhat from what we originally wanted. I was able to think of a few things though:

-- our venue (it''s a restuarant on the Maine coast, and it''s in a really pretty setting in the same town where we got engaged)

-- the lighthouse on our save the dates and probably on the invitations (which we haven''t done yet) -- I''m not really into lighthouses or anything but the one we got engaged at is in the same town as our venue

-- no bouquet toss/garter thingy -- TOTALLY not us.

Having a Vegas wedding at The Bellagio was very, very *us*.

Also, my husband''s brown and blue wedding invitations were soooooo us. My entire house is brown and blue.

I really love reading this thread. It''s fun to see what people are able to incorporate.

I keep trying to think of things that we can do that will be more "us", but nothing comes to mind, lol. I am considering polling friends to see what they would expect at an "us" wedding and seeing if I like any of their ideas.

We''re planning a beach ceremony and we met in Hawaii, so I guess that can be kind of considered us, but now we live in LA and we NEVER go to the beach, so its not like we''re real beach bums. When I was younger I was always at the beach, so I feel like that part is more "me" than "us".

I think a big part of my problem deciding on "us" things is that we''ve grown and changed so much since we''ve been together that there isn''t anything to really define "us" as a couple. Guess I''m destined for a cookie cutter wedding!!

i am sure you will think of something one day when you are doing an "us" kind of thing....is there anything you guys like to do together thats special? 2 of my friends are really into wine, so they want to incorporate that alot....another couple really likes movies, so they are naming tables after their favorite movies....im sure you can find something.

if not, the most important thing is that you''re marrying the person you love! :)

Wow - this is a great question. It's funny because at first I wasn't aiming to make my wedding "me," I just was aiming to make it pretty, and to make it seem like a "wedding." So generic, right? Anyway, lately things have been coming together and I have found that a lot of the things we have chosen are so very "us."

I'm doing my own save the dates and invites, so they're totally "my" style.
The decorations/centerpieces are very organic and earthy, also very "me."
The ceremony music: a classical guitar playing modern music that is totally fitting. Very us.
My dress, jewelry, etc. all very me - a combo of simple, antique with a modern twist (if you can wrap your head around that.)
Also - everything is going to be very informal and inconspicuous, which is very much our personality. It will be relaxing and pretty, beautiful but not stuffy. Very much like how we decorate our home, how we live our lives.
