The recent fuit thread gave me the idea to post this question. I thought about doing a poll, but there were so many types of choices, it didn''t seem like a good idea. But I''m curious about what kind of snacks you all like to indulge? Are you a healthy snacker who likes fruits, veggies, and nuts? Are you more of a sweet indulgence type of person who likes ice cream, cheesecake, chocolate bars, or cookies? Are you more like me, a lover of all things salty and crunchy?

My current favs are the Ritz Bitz crackers with the cheese in the middle, and the honey mustard flavored tiny pretzel twists. I also love chips and salsa. But my all time favorite snack food of all has got to be popcorn! The saltier and more buttery the better! I especially love the movie theater popcorn. I can honestly eat nearly an entire large bucket of that stuff all by myself. It''s a good thing I don''t go to the movies very often!

For the most part, I eat a pretty healthy diet, but when I gotta snack...I gotta have my salty fix!

Doritos.

I can''t buy them because I''ll eat the whole bag in 2 days.

Oooh, yeah, those are good! I don''t buy them often either, for the same reason! I love the nacho cheese flavor.

nuked honey bread

It has to be apple orchard not messed with honey however and homemade style bread the thicker the better.
Nuked until the honey is crispy.
It is heavenly.

Yummy thread.

Morning: Fruit & sweet dip.
Afternoon: Baked tostada chips & southwestern salsa.
Evening: Smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers & crackers.

Special mention: Doritos ''spicier nacho'' chips while grilling out!

Kettle corn. I just want to choke whoever had the BRILLIANT idea to mix sweet and salty TOGETHER on popcorn...and it doesn''t help that they even sell big sacks of it at my local farmer''s market every weekend...ACK. But SOOOOOO good. mmmmm

I''m not a big snacker, but if I do snack, its ususally something savory. A slice of sharp cheddar, a handful of almonds or celery/carrot dipped inplain yogurt. Yup, you guessed right, I''m always on some kind of low carb diet.

Cheetos.
18.gif
And Jenn forgot, but she loves those too.

And Oreos with milk.
18.gif

Chips & fresh guacamole.

Clemetines, Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich, chips and dip.
I''m hungry.

Hmmmm......Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches!!!

18.gif
I''m all over that one!!

I found some good guacamole chips that I like (with some shredded cheddar melted on them) - but have been having blueberries lately, or almonds....and I love those tiny grape tomatoes!!!

Kmom, I''ve blocked them out from my consciousness--too painful becasuse I can''t buy those either--I eat the whole bag in onse sitting!

I have learned that if you don''t buy it, then you don''t have it in the house, and you don''t EAT it. Sadly, I refrain from buying these beloved items becasue I know I have no control.

Another another one on our list is Tostitos Lime Chips with fresh salsa and guacamole-YUMMMMMMM

Fried chicken

.

oh and jalepeno kettle cooked potato chips -- specifically texas bob''s

ooooh and beef jerky

and all of the above are 100x better if eaten after midnight.

ooooh, gingerb., you just reminded me of our favorite "snack/meal" (yes, it is sad but we''ve made dinner out of this many a night...)

Utz Kettle cooked chips and ice cold Asti Spumante*
3.gif

Don''t knock it until you try it, kids.... Super-salty, crunchy chips washed down with icy-cold sweet Asti... YEAH, BABY!
9.gif
18.gif

*Note: Jalapeno kettle chips or salt & vinegar work well here too.

I am not a snacker at all...I typically eat my three meals a day and that's it. People who snack always befuddle me..my dad is a HUGE snacker, there were always tons of chips and stuff in the house for him and he gets up at night to snack too!! He's thin as a rail, thanks to his running/biking but we were always amazed at his snacking capabilities.

If I do 'snack' between meals, I usually eat fruits or a slice of cheese or something that is very flavorful but not high in terms of 'quantity'...

BUT if I am feeling REALLY bad...a few times a year I buy a bag of double-stuff Oreos. I normally don't keep any sweets in the house (other than bittersweet dark chocolate which we have with dessert wine a few times a week) because if I did have anything in the house, my big sweet tooth would require that I consume it all immediately. When I do have the Oreos in the house, I eat the whole bag literally in 2-3 days! Insanity. Greg is lucky to snatch a few.
2.gif

However, not snacking on random stuff during the day allows me to have dessert *each and every time* we go out for dinner...which makes up for all the other stuff. So my sweet tooth stays happy.

oooooh...that sonds REALLY good!!! lol....i''m gonna try it!!

I would have to say that I love fruit smoothies and blueberry or strawberry cheesecake ice cream...I love fruit just by itself, but I nosh on fruit more if there is a fruit dip or if it is in a smoothie...when I am really good and watching my carbs as I should, I eat plenty of fresh fruit--frozen grapes, fruit smoothies, fruit tarts, etc.--but I also love fresh fruit pies, which is NOT good for my waistline
emsad.gif

I do eat more veggies if I buy the veggie trays for the family just to nibble on as we do more and more summer bbqs and salads are plentiful in our home, made differently to spice interest...
emsmile.gif

My greatest joy is the flavor-splashed water available at the market that encourages me and others to drink more water--and not get bored with--well--water.

I know--sounds weird, but that''s my story and I''m stickin'' to it!

I''m just the opposite from you, Mara. I hardly ever eat three meals a day. Especially meals that consist of more than one or two courses. I eat five or six smaller "snack" type meals most days. Typically, my breakfast would be 1/2 a bagel or a bit of fruit. Lunch is like a bowl of soup or some tuna and lettuce. Later on in the afternoon I might eat a little and cheese crackers or pretzels or something like that. Dinner most of the time for me is a sandwich, or a chicken breast and a little bit of veggies. Before bedtime, I will eat another snack, like some crackers and cheese or popcorn. Even when I eat in a restuarant, I typically only eat about 1/2 of my meal and take the rest home for the next day. I almost never eat dessert...pretty much only on special occasions like a birthday or something like that. But then again...I don''t have a really big sweet tooth to worry about keeping happy
2.gif

I don''t keep a lot of chips or munchies in the house. Usually there''s a box of Ritz and pretty much nothing else. I only buy potato chips and that kind of thing on a case by case basis...like if we are having a party or a cookout or something. If they don''t get eaten right away, they usually end up getting stale and thrown out around my house. The only chips that don''t seem to stick around long enough to get stale are the Doritos
18.gif

My daughter saw me post this thread, and asked me to post her favorite snack...Strawberry Twizzlers...lol! My little guy is likes Fast Break candy bars. He also loves Pringles. Hubby is into Planters Cheese Balls and Trail Mix. I usually only buy this stuff when they ask for it...and they pretty much eat it all up as soon as I buy it! If I kept our pantry stocked with all our favorite snacks, we''d all be too fat! We all like cheese and popcorn, so I do keep us well stocked on both of those. But I think that cheese and popcorn are pretty healthy snacks and I can justify keeping those around.

I never thought of fried chicken as a snack food! Unless you count chicken nuggets

My oldest loves beef jerky. When he still lived at home, I had to buy it nearly every time I went to the supermarket.

snack? MY whole diet is a snack...

I personally enjoy a nice bag of sat and vinger potatoe chips and I am a sucker is a snickers bar....

sjz - i am with you on the eating habbits. i am very much a 5 meal a day person. it keeps my metabolism up and i can better ration out my eating without ever really craving a shack

I don''t think the pricescope software has enough capacity to handle my list. Let''s just say it''s exhaustive!

my favorite snack is...anything that is bad for your body.in other words, all the good tasting junk foods.

emlips.gif
Diet Coke!
emlips.gif

I wasn''t thinking about beverages when I started this thread...if those count, I''d have to add Diet Dr. Pepper to my list. I suck down a shameful amount of that!

Diet soda doesn't count- it has no calories. If it doesn't make you fat it's not a snack LOL

Healthy snacking is good for you and is encouraged by doctors and nutritionists. it keeps blood sugar nice and even and keeps that metabolism going nice and strong. Healthy snacking that is. I can't seem to master that! :)

Oh, a BEVERAGE snack???

Grey Goose dirty martini, 4 olives, straight up.

12-14 Diet Cokes?!? Man, if I did that, I''d have to drink them sitting on the potty!
