I absolutely LOVE hob nobs from the UK. They''re this yummy biscuit with a layer of chocolate on top. Delicious!

I also love to use the Walkerswood Jamaican caribbean jerk sauce in a jar. Soooo spicy, but sooooo great!

Does nutella count as an international food? I have no idea where it''s made. I remember a while back Indie talked about eating spoonfuls of it, and then I saw it in the grocery store and bought it. SWOON!

I love trying food products from other countries....anyone else?

Korean bbq. If you haven''t tried, you''re missing out.

DARN IT! ugh!!!!!
I'm on a typo frenzy lately! I used the wrong form of "your" in the title. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Moving on...where can I get me some Korean bbq, peepa?

Nutella isn''t from the US originally (right? German or Swiss, something like that, I think). That''s got to be my favorite international food. By far. I''m sure once I see other replies I''ll think of more things that I love though. At first I thought you meant international cuisine. For that, I''d go with Italian.

Basically I lost all respect for American food after living abroad, so I will limit myself.

I LOVE authentic Chinese bao zi. Sometimes Asian markets make them, but the frozen ones aren''t any good. They are usually a breakfast food as I understand it, so you rarely see them on menus

Dr Oetker (sp) frozen pizzas. They are for sale in every industrialized country except the US as far as I can tell. Best frozen pizza ever, if you come across them, buy them.

Mark and Spencer chocolate christmas cookies are great. I miss them terrible. They were so good my FI and I had little rituals around them, it was really sweet.

Dark chocolate italian gelato. I have had good gelato stateside, but not the dark chocolate I had in Italy.

Chocolate spread. It is just like nutella wiithout hazelnut, which I don''t like. I haven''t been able to find it since I returned to the states and I really miss it.

The breakfast my Mexican mama Lulu made for me when I lived there. It was homemade rolls with fresh Mexican cheese and homemade refried beans.

I am grabbing subway on the way home, sigh. Oh well, I still have me memories

I *love* Chicken Tikka Masala

Nutella is Italian.

Trader Joe''s actually has a pretty good version (it''s called bulgogi). My fiance and I actually started preparing it ourselves recently and it''s pretty darn easy to make!

My favorite though has got to be sashimi - SUPER high quality sashimi...particuarly the "weird" stuff...uni, ikura, amaebi.

Second has got to be any really stinky cheese - epoisses, brie, and gruyere are some of my favorites.

My ultimate favorite "international" food has to be Rosti in Switzerland... at Zeughauskeller with a bottle of Maisgold beer (impossible to find in the US)

Rosti is like a huge mcdonalds hash brown on a round plate.... Gotta love those carbs

Oh man, luckystar, I am WITH you on the hobnobs. My favorite are the dark chocolate ones. OMG. I loved them when I lived in the UK and then I found an Irish import shop that had them when I lived in LA and I was in heaven. Mmmm....

Actually, I like pretty much all food. Right now I'm drinking some porter and I could really go for a steak and ale pie with it.

ETA: AND CHEESE! Skippy, you are a woman after my own heart. The stinkier, the better!

Obviously my fav food is Korean.

Bulgogi is not really Korean BBQ, but it is certainly a Korean marinated meat. Personally, I wouldn''t touch the TJ''s stuff, but in all fairness, that''s probably because I''ve had my mama''s cookin''!

Sushi is also a favorite.

I love good ceviche. Tapas. Gelato.

And my hubby being from Oz, I appreciate a good ole homecooked lamb roast.

I LOVE sushi, bubble tea and most all Japanese food, I love croissants and any thing that is a pastry.

I adore Serbian food like cevapi (mince type sausages), pita (pasty filled with meat or vegies YUMM), palacinke (kinda like a crepe) and oblante (wafer biscuits filled with this nutty caramel undescribable goodness OMG so good). Living in a Serb household this was really inevitable. Growing up in Australia I can''t live without my vegemite.

I LOVE Hello Panda :), my FF and I have a ritual when we eat these people think we are nuts but it makes them taste better.

There is more but I think that covers the main bases.

Oh I love Mexican Food. Yummmmmmmmy!!! I could eat it 7 days a week. DH does not like it, except for Tacos. HA!!

I also love Italian Food and German Food.

Mmmm, foooood. I eat my way through every city!

Love the sweets in Paris, esp. the matcha domes with red bean paste at Sadaharu Aoki. I also love macarons at Pierre Herme and Laduree.

In Los Angeles, I love Tito''s Tacos - they are so down and dirty good, it''s ridiculous.

In San Francisco - I love the shaking beef at Slanted Door, but I also like obscure, hole in the wall east bay Vietnamese restaurants - sandwiches, pho, shrimp on sugar cane, what ever - I eat it alll.

oh, too many things to mention, from Greece marinated grilled octopus, saganaki, spanakopita, and skordalia, REAL gyros, from the spit...

Chinese I have to order the dumplings!
LOVE sushi, though stick with the noncrazy stuff like eel, tuna, clam, etc.

But the Luckystar''s post reminded me of the rock buns I had in Scotland. They are hard (from all the butter) huge sweet lumps of baked goodness, studded with currants. I would eat them for a meal sometimes.

Nutella is Italian - you can buy it in 5kg jars there!

I LOVE japanese and thai food.

I also like french and ''good'' italian (hard to find in the UK).

One of my favourite meals is Haggis - with mashed potatoes and peas, mmmmmmmmmm. I always had it as a last meal the night before I went back to boarding school.

I pretty much only like international foods. My all-time favorite food in general is sushi. I always feel like eating it, no matter what. I also LOVE Thai and Indian foods, as well as Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Mexican.

Now I am hungry!!

Latte macchiatto in the mornings from tiny little cafés in Italy. The ones full of old men who yell 'ragazzi' at each other for seemingly no apparent reason other than to congratulate themselves on being ragazzi

Proper lasagne served with a cold side salad like some coleslaw or something, and good garlic bread. So bad for you. So delicious. Too often in Ireland what passes for lasagne is just mince with a drizzle of tomato sauce and one layer of pasta on top. No proper bolognese sauce, no vegetables, no mozzarella, no bechamel. No good!

Tacori I love chicken tikka masala too. Oh yum. We have a great Pakistani restaurant where BF lives and the tikka masala there is out of this world. And the garlic naan bread. And the desserts

I lived in Germany for a year and I miss the Nutella wafer snacks you can buy there in vending machines in the U-Bahn stations. They're called Hanuta. There are chunky shortbread biscuits too with a thick layer of chocolate on top - we can get those in Lidl and Superquinn here now, yippee! I also miss the yummy salads served with every meal in Germany. Ireland is not a salad country.

ETA - oooh I forgot one - chilli con carne!
18.gif

Paella, just like grandma used to make, yum! My mothers side of the family is from Spain so that was served aaaallllllllllllll the time, and I never got sick of it!

I love sushi and sashimi so so much. I get sushi for lunch pretty much every day because a place opened down the block from my work that is amazing. The fish is so fresh and delicious...YUM! It''s an expensive habit, but it''s worth it!

I love chocolate (the drink) from Spain. It''s this super thick hot chocolate drink that is unbelievable. You can get it with churros and they''re so good with the chocolate!

I love this cheese called Petit Basque that''s from the Basque country in Spain.

Nutella is a no brainer, I love it. My brother''s wife is Swedish and she introduced us to it years ago.

I love bi bim bop, (did I get the spelling right this time, TGal?) which is a delicious Korean dish with rice and meat and vegetables. I''ve only had it in LA, but a classmate of mine is Korean and she told me about a Korean place in the city I live with off the hook bi bim bop so I have to go there!

Now I''m so hungry! Can I have sushi for breakfast?

I have to say I love Masaman curry!!!!! I am making tonight for dinner.
Any Thai, Middle Eastern, and Indian food that is veg friendly I love!!!!

Ooooh, fun thread!! I lived in London for a few months and got VERY addicted to some of the treats over there... so I'm always hunting them down over here in the US! At Wegman's, you can find Hobnobs AND Yorkshire tea... I had both last night!
30.gif
Also love Flake bars... mmmm. My BFF's mom is English and goes back home fairly often, so she brings me back whatever treats I can't find in the stores here.

Glad someone mentioned Bubble Tea... I thought I was the only person in the country who drank it! I've found a select few tea houses in Philly that offer it, so I splurge every once in a while... mmmm, now I have a craving.

As for non-specific types of food, homemade Turkish borek and dolmas are hard to beat... but do not give me the greasy Greek version of a dolma that is commonly found in the US... ick. I also love anything Indian, anything Thai, anything Mexican (we have a couple authentic places here in Philly, luckily! Not like on the West Coast though) and anything Japanese.

No one made dolmas like the way my yia yia did (but I could be slightly biased). Not greasy at all, with the rice inside moist with avgolemno sauce. Delicious (and addicting)

I am getting very hungry reading this thread!

I love Ethiopian food, but haven''t had any that was really good since I lived in Boston.

The UK folks will probably laugh but every time a friend is headed to London I ask her to bring me back Cadbury Twirls! Oh, how I love them! Recently a friend returned with some but also brought Ripple bars because her UK BF insisted they were better. I have to disagree. Yes, they were good, but not as delicate as the Twirls! I have 3 packs left and I''m rationing them out because she''s not going back until Christmas!

As for cuisine, I love Thai, but Greek is probably my favorite lately. I live near Greektown here in Baltimore and spent last Friday at the Greek Festival where all the little old Greek ladies make all the food in their homes and serve it in the streets for us festival goers. It was FANTASTIC. We have neighbors that go to "Greek Night" with us and we pick a different restaurant in Greektown every time. I can''t get enough Greek food. Very glad there are so many immigrants here in Baltimore dishing it up!

Anything Vindaloo, probably shrimp would be my favorite
Sushi and Sashimi
Pistachio Gelato
Pierogis
Gyros
Baklava
Soda Bread

Are you in the States? In SF, there''s a place called Brothers Restaurant and they have really good Korean bbq. There are a few places in the bay area that serve yummy Korean food cause it isn''t just the bbq I like, it''s pretty much everything that Korean.
2.gif
And oh my, bibimbap is the BOMB.

Taco Bell !!!

Thai! Pad-se-iw especially, but anything drenched in coconut curry sauce is yummy in my tummy! Seriously, I would drink it if I didn''t get funny looks.

Mmmm gruyere! Hummus and pita chips?! I''ll eat for 3 hours! Does that count as international?
