I just put out my christmas decorations and am a little disappointed by the results. It needs... MORE but don't know where to shop other than Crate and Barrel. Any ideas?

Inside or outside? Hardware stores have a lot of outdoor decorations. Indoor decorations and ornaments I like places like Hobby Lobby and Hallmark.

Dollar stores are fantastic for ornaments! Seriously. I wouldn't have believed it but I got some stunning glass balls with frosted glitter designs a couple of years back. Also Pier 1, World Market, Hallmark stores, Target, Walgreens, Macys, Home Depot, Lowes, well pretty much anywhere. Pottery Barn too. eBay and Etsy are great for vintage pieces

Fill in with colored balls temporarily, then you can trade out for memory-makers as the years go by.

But try the dollar-type stores first. They are really Way cheaper there.

Let us know how you do, so I can vicariously live through you. I have about 10 boxes of ornaments and can't fathom buying more. But most of those I got after Christmas when they're half price. :naughty:

It depends on what you want.

if you just want elegant made easy... 60-150 ornaments all coordinated: Frontgate. Also wreaths, stockings, garlands... everything basically. But the price tag is high.

If you want a few unique touches: Neiman Marcus (go to the store, not online), Horchow, and Gumps have some lovely items.

I have a pretty extensive collection I've been building since I was twelve. These days I'm only looking for really hard to find vintage so ebay is where I hunt, or I'm replacing broken ornaments.

Pier One has great items. Wait for a sale, they always have them. I used to frequent them every year but the last few years have been disappointing. But this year is a better year. I bought 6 ornaments a couple weeks ago from there (replacements for broken ornaments).

For woodsy homemady stuff: World Market.

And for lighted treetoppers: Lowes and Home Depot. They honestly have the best selection. But... to get the nicest stuff you have to start shopping in October.

Also Christmas specialty stores. Those are your best bet for nice stuff. A lot of Pool and Patio stores do HUGE Christmas selections. So do kick-knack stores. My mom bought me some GORGEOUS reindeer at a high end knick-knack store local to her. They had a HUGE selection of gorgoeus items.

And for tree skirts: Etsy.
Stockings: Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn....

Your problem right now is that a LARGE majority of the good items at these places are gone already. Sold out of the best items. Frontgate especially.

Still hit the pavement and see what you can find.
I'm not a fan but Macy's has a Christmas store every year

Wreaths: Etsy or make your own. I make my own.

Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Anthropologie, nice department stores, and sometimes independent gift stores. There is a locally owned, independent Christmas store in my (very small) hometown and she's stayed in business for oh, 15 years now? That always amazes me, but she has beautiful things and the community is very supportive of their local entrepreneurs.

Many people purchase special ornaments while traveling. You might think about looking for ornaments next time you vacation or travel for work. It's a great way to build a collection of meaningful things, and you can fill in around those with the cheapie, bulk-packaged stuff.
