Where to by my engagement ring/diamond for the best price?

I need a round solitaire diamond ring set in a simple white gold setting size 5.5


I would like the diamond to be at least 1.25 - 2.00 carats

It doesn't have to be perfect but I would like it to be close when viewing from the naked eye.
I want it to not have any yellow tint when viewing from the naked eye, no visible inclusions by the naked eye, and I want it to be an ideal cut. If someone could point me in the direction of what C's I am looking for in each category that would great!! From the research I've done I'm thinking I want an ideal cut, i and VS2, but not 100% sure these will accomplish what I'm looking for. As far as price I would like to keep it under 8 grand and was planning to spend around 6k but obviously would go to 8 if the diamond was more of what I want. I am not against buying online as long as I can return it If I'm not satisfied. Any help is appreciated. I also have cash so if anyone could recommend a good jewler or website I am ready to buy ASAP thanks!

With that budget I would go to James Allen.com

Do a search for there hearts and arrows and ideal cut rounds. Most likely you're looking at a 1.26ish ct h-I at the top end of your budget( at least over 6k. Probably you'll find an ideal one, then you want to run it though the hca calculator to see if it is under a 2 on that scale. The calculator you can find on this site under tools. Then if you find three you like they will pull them and give you ideal scope images of them. I can't search right now but I'm sure some people will chime in.

You'd get a higher ct and color probably if you went fancy. How does she feel about those or is it only rounds?

You're going to find that prices are higher than you think, I'm afraid. You probably need to stick with H Si1 to I VS2 with your preferences, but I'll have to see what can be done with $8k.

Are you open to antique round cut diamonds as well? If so, they may be more budget friendly.

Under Resources tab at the top of this page, there's a Diamonds Search. You can set your parameters and let it search for you. If you check the In House option, it will only return selections that PS vendors have in stock. If you check All, you get "virtual stones" that are at some cutter's or wholesaler's place and then a PS vendor would have to call them in to inspect them.

I think if you truly mean you don't want to see any tint, then stop looking any lower than G or perhaps H. Look at excellent and premium cuts only. An unmounted H diamond, upside down, can look frighteningly tinted but will probably still face up white enough and look white from the side when mounted. "I" color is where I can plainly see tint from the side, in a .8ct RB, so I presume it would be noticeable in >1ct RB. Lots of people start noticing tints at I color range. J is too "warm" for many people for an engagement ring.

Personally, I will give up clarity in order to get color and size. Never compromise on cut. Most people will notice great cut and high color at a decent distance away. Clarity and whether or not the stone is totally eyeclean is best discussed with the person who'll be wearing the ring.

ames allen is very reputable. Many people here have purchased from them.
They would also set the stone and have many solitaire settings that range depending on your setting budget

Also with your budget and size demands I think an I would be just fine. I really think its the best way to maxamize your budget and still get a stone in a color range still considered near colorless (like an h is)

It's an older cut diamond ( like they used to do 100 years ago), with chunkier facets. It's a cut that's really made a come back. If you would like a more sparkly, with more fire though, I'd stick with H&A.
