Hello all! This is my very first post here. I hope I put this in the right place!

Money has been tight recently, and I'm trying to look into places where I can sell a few smaller (compared to other Pricescopers'!) jewelry pieces in Houston, Texas. I have a gold necklace with a gold pendant, and a few rings (a plain band, diamond rings, colored stone solitaires). The most expensive piece was about $2000 retail a few years back, and it's hardly been worn.

Does anyone know of good places in Houston where I could sell or even consign some of these pieces? I'm just hoping for someplace reliable where I could get a decent price for my jewelry.

Thank you all very much for your expertise! I've spent hours reading through great posts on this site!

Anyone?

Most gold jewelry can be sold to any jeweler for the current price of gold scrap (you may want to get multiple quotes, though). For pieces that are worth more or desirable to be sold second hand, you can list on ebay, Diamond Bistro, or LoupeTroop and then post the links here on our Pre-Loved Forum which you will find under Pricescope Cafe. Some items sell quickly and some items never sell. But listing on a free site like LoupeTroop is easy and you can find out if there is interest.

And welcome to PS! :wavey:

Thank you! I'll definitely have a look at all of those :)

While pennyweight scales are not all that common, you can find a gram scale most anywhere. A lot of people use them in their kitchen for weighing food. Most digital scales measure in grams as well as other weighing methods. Not every buyer will pay as much as listed here with current prices, but many will match a price if you already know a bit too much for them to buy cheaply. There is a glut of small items for sale, and this may be the best alternative to actually getting the items sold. A buyer who will pay you these prices will not be losing money, but will be paying you a fair percentage of the melt value.

Hope it helps.

That is really helpful! Thank you very, very much for helping out this newbie!

I have recently sold two pieces on diamondbistro.com. It cost me $.99 to post it there and they went very quickly. Good luck.

Thanks!
