Where would I find a star sapphire?

My daughter got married in Dec of last year and as a wedding gift I gave her the star sapphire ring my mother had made for me when I was in college. Her father brought it back from "the orient" before WW2. The sapphire is beautiful. Sky blue and the ring is surrounded by diamonds, not like the halos of today which I think are pave but each little diamond set and highlighted by itself. Anyway, I've been surprised at how much I've missed the ring. So I was thinking about having another star sapphire ring made. I'm wondering if any of you can point me in the direction of a good star sapphire vendor. And maybe tell me what to look for. I've never bought one. Thanks for your help.

I can tell you right off the bat that we love your story and are DYING for want of seeing the original ring!!!!!

They are not as common as cut sapphires.

I have a feeling Star sapphire Prices are going to be rising astronomically and I am trying to pick up as many as i can while
the prices are low

I would love to post a picture of the ring but it's on Facebook and I can't figure how to get it over here.

Pala gems has some on their site. You have to be a member of the trade to see prices or buy, however. Perhaps a trade member on PS could help you.

I haven't done this, but from reading this forum it seems like Robert Wise has a great eye and could help you out.

To post a photo, save the photo from Facebook onto your computer. Then upload the photo as an attachment to your post?

Some good education about star sapphires here:

Wildfishgems has some star sapphires, including a sky blue one.
