If two diamonds are otherwise identical, which is more important to the appearance of a diamond, its symmetry or its polish rating?

symmetry

If you want to read up on what exactly polish and symetry are, the reason symetry > polish might make more sense.

The symmetry and proportions are responsible for giving you a beautiful H&A pattern, but getting a great polish
is an additional icing on the cake.

Symmetry, hands down. Symmetry is what contributes to superior light performance.

Make sure not to confuse symmetry as currently evaluated by the labs with optical symmetry. Current evaluations of symmetry only consider external meet point faceting. According to experts I've heard speak, most experts couldn't tell the difference between excellent and good symmetry with the naked eye.

Hi,

Symmetry is by far the most important. How often do we ever see a stone with poor polish? I haven't seen one in a long time. Symmetry is so important for light return. With all the technology available today, there may come a day when no one will cut a bad stone! Informed consumers rule! Cindy
