If you were choosing one of the two cushion cut amethysts below, which would you choose and why?
Also, what do you think of the octagons?

Well, I think they all look a bit dark. But it''s hard to say with just a few pictures. Can''t really see the definition of any of them because the pics are far away and dark.

oooo, super hard to tell from the pics posted... what do you plan on doing with the stone you choose, if it''s one of those? sorry to be kind of abstract in my response but I can''t tell enough from those pics to place a judgment call on either.

In picture #1, all the amethysts look dark.
In picture #2, it looks like the picture is overexposed (too white - you can see the difference between pic 1 and pic 2), so even though the amethysts look brighter in picture #2, in reality, they may not be.

Conclusion, only the vendor can tell which one is better. Personally, I like gemstones in the medium range, not too dark and not too light.

You should probably also get pictures of the sides of the gems if you can, or ask about zoning. Amethyst has lots of zoning.

I have some pictures of drop dead gorgeous amethyst that a vendor sent me. It''s pretty expensive though for amethyst, but may be worth it if you want top notch amethyst. He sent me top and side photos. It''s four peaks material. Are those pics from the Colorado gem company that you were inquiring about?

Yes - 2door - they''re from the colorado gem co.

Who are the pics of the beautiful stone you''ve got from?

could you post it?

He sent me on other set - but, they looked too light.

The pair in both these pics are the same - so, it does look like the 2nd pic has a stronger flash or something.

He says that the pair is really nice looking...

I will have to say, I don''t think the photog on these is the greatest...

This is what he told me about the pics. Feel free to email him at [email protected]. You can forward him this link for reference. This is what he told me. He gave me prices, but he should quote them to you himself. He also has other stones in stock, I just wanted his largest ones - and this is what he provided (the material does not get huge).

From Gary:
"The 5 stone pics are, left-to-right and top-to-bottom, 7ct. oval, 8.83ct. oval, 8.56ct. cushion (NOTE: I mistakenly called this an oval in my previous email.), 10.16ct. Radiant and 4.41ct. Trillion - both face up and from the side...note how the trillion looks evenly colored face up, but from the side you can see a lot of zoning...much of this 4-peaks material is zoned to some extent and is specially cut to look color-even at most face up angles."
