Okay, so we''ve narrowed it down to either these two guys or someone who is just starting out (she''s only done three weddings and one album). Her prices are way below the others so I''m keeping her in a category of her own. Here''s her site anyway in case you want to see other work of hers: www.cornerphotos.com.

I love all their work -- they''re photos are very photojournalistic. I love detail shots and pics that capture the day as it''s happening. I''m not into a lot of posed shots. The girl we''re considering doesn''t have any wedding photos on her website yet but she has e-mailed me pics of the album she just did. It looks great. I''m a little nervous about not seeing more of her work before making a decision. How much should experience count?

This photgrapher does a ton of shoots for LL Bean, which I thought was pretty cool. Here''s his site: www.brianwedge.com.

This photographer does a ton of weddings at the venue we''re using. He talked a lot about knowing the place like the back of his hand. This is good but is it everything? He''ll know all the spots for great light, etc. Here''s his site: http://www.mcnamaraphoto.com/

I really can''t decide.

Really?? I went to it just before posting and it was fine. I''ll let him know though. Thanks for the heads up. What about the others?

The gallery is clear...

I sent him an email letting him know about it....

First one there isn''t enough info to draw any conclusions.
If you can afford someone more experienced I would do so.
Not that she might not be good but let her learn on someone who cant afford someone with more experience.

Between the other 2 I like Brian''s work better despite the website issues.
I think that he is a better technical shooter and slightly better at post processing.
A few of Patrick''s images make me cringe.

I really like the 3rd one. He has a great use of color and uses natural lighting very well. Out of the three, that is the one that really stood out for me but it is your decision overall and what you love.

zoe, ixney on the first one as there aren''t any examples really. I think I prefer Brian''s but honestly both of the others are very nice. What I like about Brian''s is his photos look more ''real'' and less stagey. The other one''s photos are a bit more staged and dramatic, which can be nice if you like that but I dont want my wedding photos to look over-staged. I want them real. From what I know of you online, you''re similar in that regard, though maybe I''m wrong! If you want a more realistic album, I''d go with Brian.

Oh, and I also didn''t have any problems with his site and we have more security on our system than the Pentagon!

Surfgirl,

THanks for your input! I definitely don''t want staged photos, so you''re right that we''re similar with that. I only included the female photographer''s link so you could see what she''s capable of. I do have a few pages of the engagement album she''s done but I didn''t want to post them since they''re not mine to post. From the pages I''ve seen, her album is very creative and it''s been done magazine style. I''m not necessarily leaning that way but I wanted to at least mention her.

I really like Brian''s work as well. Should I worry that he''s only shot one wedding at my venue whereas Patrick has done a ton of them?

A good photographer can capture the moment anywhere! I wouldn''t let that be a deciding factor at all.

Have you met with Brian or Patrick in person? It might be good to get a feel for their presence and how you interact with them. Personally, I was more drawn to Brian''s work than Patrick''s. As for the experience with the venue, it isn''t as if Brian is blind to the venue - he HAS done a wedding there, and I''m sure he now has a sense of what worked, what didn''t, and perhaps what he wishes he''d tried. With Patrick''s more posed photos and huge familiarity with the venue, I''d be afraid of him giving you a photo shoot that was more cookie cutter than one inspired purely by you, your FI, and the moment. (My apologies to Patrick if I''m way off base.)

Other than that, my best advice is to go with your gut. Good luck!
