Simon G is in a lot of local stores, as well a Ritani if you are in a larger area.
Very Blingy

**** i have a ritani and i really find the quality quite nice

If you want blingly i would say a double halo your best bet, BUT that would look fairly ridiculous depending on the size of the stone.

ETA If i was only choosing between the two i do like the artcraft one a lot better

Based on your pictures, the art carved ring shines much more than the verriagio. I like the verriago style better, but the melee is flat...not flashy or shiny at all.

I like the settings Gypsy posted but some are a little too vintage style I think your gf might not like that. She would probably like a Harry Winston replica setting or a split shank halo style. I would prefer a split shank over a triple shank!
I would go with one of these (and it will be at the top of your budget):

To see what the settings look like after they have been made, go to the "recently sold" link on the home page.

Thanks for the input. Just my opinion but all of the bands on the ERD rings are too narrow. I know she likes a thicker style. Maybe not as thick as the artcarved one but I don't know. It sounds like some people either love it or hate it unfortunately.

I liked the recommendation of the Simon G line but admittedly they are a little too expensive and the artcarved I'm guessing is actually a lower priced variant of the Simon G MR1904: http://www.robbinsbrothers.com/Engagement-Rings/Ring-With-Sidestones/Simon-G--i40675.ring

I'm definitely looking for a split shank style with a soft square cushion and a lot of pave for bling. Thanks for the suggestions!

My apologies if any of these has already been suggested, I haven't gone through the whole thread...

I really like this one:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/pave-and-side-stones/belle-halo-micro-pave-18k-white-gold-5497w18

ID Jewelry and Good Old Gold carry these settings and the price would be about 20% less than what's listed on the Gabriel website.

I love the first Gabriel one.

Engagement Rings Direct also does great halo settings so I would check out their site, although I see some of their rings have already been suggested.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm blown away by how helpful everyone is by taking the time to post links. I like your suggestions but instead of a round halo I like a soft square cushion halo. Even though my diamond is round I think it gives it an interesting contrast. This link above looks just like the artcarved. I was wondering why you might prefer this one over that. Thanks so much for the help!

I would stick to two shanks or one thick shank. Not three shanks.

http://www.robbinsbrothers.com/Engagement-Rings/Ring-With-Sidestones/Coast-Diamond-i46424.ring Coast has nice quality as well.

THIS is just gorgeous: http://www.robbinsbrothers.com/Engagement-Rings/Ring-With-Sidestones/Coast-Diamond-i33370.ring thick shank, beautiful halo. 1910 offers Coast settings.

http://www.robbinsbrothers.com/Engagement-Rings/Ring-With-Sidestones/Simon-G--i48692.ring Just fabulous. And it will look great on a variety of hands. Split shank halo. I know the outline isn't the cushion you wanted but look at how amazing it it.

http://www.elizabetajewelry.com/products/beverley-k-diamond-engagement-ring-semi-mount-center-stone-not-included-number-9412-slash-60 Similar. And Beverly K customizes and can do this one with the soft cushion shape you want in the halo. Quality will be great. And it will be affordable too. Pearlmans carries Beverly K and can get this done for you.

Thanks gypsy. You have definitely given me a lot of quality choices. I'm going to go to a local place today to see if they have that sylvie you linked earlier

I like this one. Anyone have a spare $150k they can lend me? Any cheaper styles that look like that?

I like this style too. Would be interested if someone knew of one like that.

Wow I'm digging those first 2. I would love to see more pics of that first one but I don't see it on since1910's site. Where did you find the price? Thanks so much for the help, I'm going to check into these 2 ASAP

Yea she does like blingy. I know she likes something a little more showy and thicker. I've heard that the rose gold is the latest thing but I would probably stick with all white gold on the verragio. Yellow gold might be a little too risky and she might not like it. Thanks for the feedback so far! Keep 'em coming :)

I'd stick with what you've been talking about and settings shown recently stray from this. If she likes "blingy, showy and thicker" I'd stick with the 2nd setting you offered for opinions, which is one you expressed interest in as well.....

The price on that first one is a guestimate based on similar settings... I saw them for 2400-2,800 in 14kt, so I gave the top of the range.

I just got engaged a week ago, my ring is a tacori 2620. I tried verragio on and they hurt my pinky finger bc they were too wide. I liked the tacori better. Platinum is my favorite. I like both of the ones you have posted but the art carved's band kind of dwarfs the diamond. If you haven't looked at tacori, I would. They have nice tight halos. Make sure you look at verragio in person because I liked verragio better online but fell in love with tacori at the store.

Congrats to you! Thanks for the info. I checked tacori but similar styles with them cost twice as much unfortunately. Great looking rings though!

My family went to check the 2 out from the original post in person and they said to definitely get the verragio. They said it was really classy and like a piece of artwork. Now I'm more confused because I had started leaning towards the artcarved or a similar style. So my family and the majority of people on here like the verragio it seems! Man I just don't know what to do. I swear this is more difficult than anything I've ever had to do in my life. I picked a college and a profession no problem and I knew instantly when I met my girl that she was the one for me. Those decisions were easy. But man, I can't pick a setting for the life of me!!

Ooooh, I vote for the precision set too.

After hearing about all of the problems people have had with verragio, I'd be nervous about buying one. And I think the Precision setting is gorgeous, flashy and classy without being "too much."

I'll see if I can get a price on the precision set today.

This is a hypothetical but what if I chickened out and just put the diamond in a couple hundred dollar solitaire setting and proposed and then let her pick her favorite setting afterwards? Or do girls really want to be surprised and have a flashy looking setting presented to them? This is a really hard decision and its because I'm trying to buy something with not a lot of clues and the fact that its something she will probably wear forever is throwing me for a loop. This is a lot of pressure

Some woman love a surprise and the idea that there SO took the time ti learn there style and get them something he thiught she would love. I am not one of those people. I wanted to pick it out exactly so it was exactly what i wanted. And picking out something like that is a lot of fun to girls like myself, and others on this thread. You just have to figure out which woman your SO is. Just remember though shes going to want to wear it ASAP. not send it away again to be reset

That's exactly how I would be if I was a girl. I couldn't imagine someone else picking something so important out for me. She is really sweet and simple and would probably like anything but man this is a lot of pressure not knowing for sure which way to go!

I've been amazed by this thread and the number of beautiful halo rings that have been sourced. I can empathise with your finding it a hard decision Kmoney but don't forget that if you choose her a ring, you are the only one who knows about all the other possible choices. Another point to consider is that if you do let her choose her own setting she may be just as confused about what she would love as you are. I seem to be arguing in favour of you surprising her when actually I am all for the woman who is going to wear the ring's input. But this is only because I see you receiving advice from people who really understand the style of ring your future fiance is drawn to and know how beautifully they can work. I sense a little courage is needed here.

If she likes a lot of bling (my kinda girl!), she may be a touch disappointed if she opens the ring box to find a plain solitaire. Maybe you could pick your top three favorite setting choices and print out little pictures of them to put in the ring box? Then she would immediately know that bling was the plan.

Also I LOVE the precision set one that Gypsy linked. But I am also the kind of girl who would prefer to pick for myself.

If you guys have talked about it and she has expressed on a vague interest in what it looks like than I think you are in the clear to pick it yourself. For exapmple, I wanted a pear and I wanted this than i wanted that.....I was very vocal and specific and I am very opinionated about this I dislike . My SO knew he was stepping though a mine field if he tried to pick it himself. If she just knows she wants bling and you think she would be happy with anything than I would puck one and not do a plain solitaire.

I agree. Thanks for the words of encouragement guys! I just want to get her the perfect one and I want her to love it and everyone she shows to be like WOW! She deserves it.

If I could see these all in person it would probably make my decision a lot easier. As much as I love the suggestions in here, I don't think I can go by a picture on a website unfortunately. I'll do my best to find some of these locally in the next few days.

It depends on the girl. At first I wanted to be surprised but then my fiance kept saying that I would wear the ring FOREEEEEEEVERRRRRRRR and he wanted to make sure we BOTH loved it, not just him, and so we picked it out together and it was really fun and romantic, and I liked that he was so concerned about making sure I was 100% happy. But some girls think their fiance doing that is him being lazy. But he did the footwork and set up appointments at jewelers and would pick out settings beforehand to have already pulled for me to look at, and the setting I ended up with was one he picked.

I like this idea. Then you can have a post-proposal date set up to go look at the settings and pick one!

My parents are telling me I'm crazy to not get the verragio. I'm just scared its a little too busy and she won't like that style. You guys think it won't bling like the artcarved? Here's a few more pics of the verragio

I should mention that this verragio is just a "display sample" I was told. It's not made out of gold and probably has a cz in it. Hard to picture what it would look like with quality materials
