I really personally would not choose a verragio... I just dont think the quality is where you want her setting to be.

I am always challenged because Verragio has beautiful designs .. it is a shame that their quality doesn't match up to their design. IN the end, you should get what you want! We are a picky bunch here and your gf may be perfectly happy.

The brands I would stick to include ... Beverly K, Scott Kay, Simon G, Tacori, Vatache, Michael Beaudry ... there are a bunch more. I know their designs don't compare to the Verragio ring. Did you try to get a CAD/CAST quote to replicate the Verragio ring with change? I would try contacting ERD ... he may be able to get close to your budget.

Hi, without having read the whole thread, I'd like to gently echo who those who said they don't like either setting. These rings are just over the top... "gaudy" unfortunately is the first word that comes to mind. Sorry, just my honest opinion.

A high-quality simple solitaire (with the biggest and best diamond your budget allows), paired with a diamond wedding band, is plenty blingy, but also tasteful and classic. Not to mention more practical for real life: all that pave could be a nightmare with melee falling out, especially if these are not great-quality settings.

Yea different strokes for different folks I guess. I know she doesn't like plain solitaires. Too boring. But other people would rather have a big diamond be the showcase. I can see that side of it too

I don't think the verragio is gaudy at all. We looked at TONS of rings... Traveled out of town to do so over the course of a year. Verragio is the one that caught our eye because of the intricate settings, especially from the side. I love the verragio with the round diamond and the cushion/ square halo. The idea of the solitaire is not a bad idea then she can pick. My vote is for the verragio. I also liked the Harry Winston halo. My diamond and setting is from 1910 and it sparkles more than the diamonds at Tiffany's.

While I personally believe that for an engagement ring, you shouldn't have to feel like you're "taking a chance" on a business or a setting, yes, I do think that the one you just linked is nicer than the first one. It's less busy and much prettier than the first. BUT I do think that some better options have been suggested already. That's just my personal opinion, though.

Ditto. Still and all, if you love it for her and saw it in person, ultimately it's your decision that matters. I do like it MUCH more than your original two.

if you want to get a verragio one than get one. Personally I agree spending over 3k on something I would want to know its quality, not just hope. Especially with people specifically calling it into question. But its your decision in the end.... :wavey:

ETA: didnt want it to sound EXACTLY like gypsy's, though it is the same sentiment lol

Thanks. Yes, since I was able to see it in person I'm more keen to go for that. Living in a small town there's not too many options. There's the bargain bin settings then a few of the stores have designers but not a big selection. Thanks for the help

I like the latest one you posted. I think it's design is dainty and it accentuates the center diamond.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Actually the original one is smaller and more dainty in real life. Hard to judge from the pics but the latest one I posted is super thick and "meaty" is the best way to describe it. It has a lot more metal than the other one, which is why the price is higher I suppose. Still not sure which one to go for. Here are a couple of pics. Newest one first 2 pics and then original (smaller) one next 2

If I was going to take a chance on verragio, do you guys like this one better than the other one I posted? I saw it in the store and I was like wow

Of the three that you're trying to decide between I like the 1st Verragio the best. In the stock photos I like the one linked above the best, but in the real life photos the 1st Verragio with the split shank and halo is prettier.

I tend to agree. I think maybe I'm stuck on the fact that the newest one is so much more ring for the money and has a much more interesting and intricate design. Up close I was blown away by the level of detail. It's also quite substantial where as the other one is smaller and more dainty with less detail, perhaps the safer option though. The newest one though is like a piece of art. Tough decision. At least I've narrowed it down to these 2 from the hundreds I've seen, so I'm close! Just looking for some feedback to push me in either direction

+1, the new one seems to have so much metal showing.

What if I could get either for the same price? Would I be stupid to not get the newest one since its worth more? Also 18k vs 14k

With that much pave, I'd do platinum.

I guess I'm skeptical about the Verragio because from your pictures and from what I've seen in other pics and in real life, their melee isn't as sparkly as I'd like and the beads holding the melee diamonds are blobby and different shapes and sizes. I like all the tiny pave beads/prongs to be as uniform as possible, especially when paying designer prices. I understand wanting to see it in person but I'm worried your lack of in-person options isn't giving you the selection you'd need to see where the quality is falling short.

I haven't looked at price or taken it into consideration. I assume that when you post they are all in your price range and I don't consider price beyond that. I like the 1st one with the split shank and halo.

I couldnt agree more with districts! I understand wanting to see it in person, but for what you are spending you can get a much better quality. And quality is important not just in the metal work but also the small pave stones. There are a lot of them. If thry are not of a good cut quality that is a lot of low light performance stairing you in the face. You wanted to find the best stone you have to remember you want it to sit on something just as nice. Plus your budget is quite nice for a really nice quality setting

I understand and appreciate the recommendations but with what little I have to go by and the fact that I have seen these in person and I think they look really good, I am just going to go with one of these 2. I'm running out of time and I think I just need to pick one. I've been losing sleep over this. It really is a tough thing to do for us guys, especially with not a lot of information. She's not the kind of girl that would do so but if for some reason she wanted a different style like the ones linked, we could always sell this and go for one of those. When I went around town shopping I looked at a lot of cheapy no name brand rings and then I saw these Verragio rings and was blown away by the level of detail. I looked at Tacori and Simon G rings as well and didn't like any as much as these. But like I said, small town and probably limited selection, but of the ones I saw - these were the best imo. Maybe my low light cell phone pics aren't the best but they do look great in person. Verragio.com has a 3-D view which will show more of the detail.

So today is judgement day I think. Which one do you guys think? I have a hookup so they are roughly the same price. Thanks for all of the help!
