First of all, TGIF everyone! I thought this might be a fun little mini-poll on a Friday. Well, it''s fun for me to see what you guys think. I feel like I''m forever wanting your opinions on this, and that. That''s okay, right?

I feel like I''m going back and forth and back and forth on a dress. Then, I pinch myself because C''MON Emily, there are more important things to worry about. But, but, but...

Think simple, chic, garden wedding. Spring. Peony bouquet, white tulip centerpieces (though I haven''t really decided), blue and ivory with hints of green. Which dress style do YOU think goes *best* with my dream wedding scenario?

I looooove them both, and I''ve tried both styles on. When shopping for a dress, did anyone else have a hard time deciding between two completely different dress styles?

Depending on the budget, I might have to have either made, but I''ve got the name of some fabulous dressmakers here in L.A. If the budget is nice, the Amsale is do-able, but the Monique will most likely have to be copied. I found some gorgeous ivory alencon lace for $49/yard.

first, the descrition of your wedding setting/colors sounds so nice!

I think that the second dress is simply gorgeous, but that is purely personal opinion because i do not like poofy skirts and adore lace dresses.

either one is stunning.

you''ve loved so many styles that have been so different from each other -- but they''ve all been beautiful!

Oh, Lulu, I know...I'm hopeless. I think it's really down to these two styles, though. Silk satin ballgown-y (though I like that the one above isn't TOO poofy!) or the lace sheath. I feel that if I find the perfect cake/dress, everything else will just fall into place. Isn't that weird? I've found the perfect cake, though....

I know there are many lace sheaths out there that aren't $5000, but they're all either beaded and pearled, the dress is meant to *look* like lace, or the dress is half lace and half something else. If I went with the ML copy, I'd just want plain, gorgeous non-beaded alencon lace. I know, picky, picky picky.

Day or night garden wedding?

Ooh, both. Probably something like 4-11.

you should be picky! i think that the lace sheath compliments a garden party a bit better...

and seriously, every single style that you''ve posted has been completely gorgeous. you have some great taste.

what does the perfect cake look like?

#2! #2!

Oh Ebree, I can soooo feel for you!! I tried on a dress that I absolutely loved, it was very simple. It's only competition was another dress that I also absolutely loved, it was the same style dress (a-line, dropped waist, plain skirt with just a little something at the bottom and around the natural waist), except the second dress was much flashier (i.e. beads, pearls). I honestly made the lady at the bridal shop help me in and out of those two dresses like forty times! That was the only way I made my decision. Plus I enlisted the help of my MOH and mother LOL.

Gosh, looking at those two dresses, I can't decide either!! I guess my decision would rest on how simple you want the dress to be, meaning do you want the full a-line look. From what you have described, I can so totally see you walking around in the second dress in a beautiful garden, talking to guests, kissing your husband, just soaking up the sun

I think the second one is Garden Party and the first one is Ballroom. Is it Amsale?

Why thank you! And the same to you as well...your VW sheath is gorgeous.

The cake is very simple. I should have a picture of it soon, and I'll post it as soon as I receive it!

Well, for ME, it would be #1, but for your wedding, #2. It''d be so pretty in a garden.

#2

I''ve gotta say, #2 is calling out to me more too! And I know what you mean about Monique vs. other lace...almost all the other lace I saw was just SO tacky and chunky and overly decorated! Lace is supposed to be LACE, people!!!! Sigh. Anyway.
20.gif
My second choice was a Monique and it was just soooooooo soft and flowy and gorgeous, so I''m going to have to go with that! I loooove it!

(But I love the first one too, and don''t at all think it would be inappropriate for a garden wedding!)

haha you all who say you hate ballgowns will DETEST my dress.

Ummm, who said everyone hates ballgowns?? My dress is a ballgown. I believe only lovelylulu said she doesn''t like poofy shirts, which is her opinion and was not in the least bit offensive.

So #2's winning, huh? $5000 for that ML from a website known for their great prices. Ouch! I think they'd both be around the same price to make, though.

Some girl on theknot.com was talking about how she was trying on a dress at an L.A. boutique when she noticed a gorgeous ML in the window. She went on and on about how beautiful it was and watched the seamstress laugh...it was an ML copy the seamstress was almost finished making. Her name and number is now in my little book of important names and numbers. [;

haha no i wasn''t saying it was offensive!

i just making a joke! :)

I am right there with you laurel....

Emily.....if you have not tried them on yet....what I suggest is to try both of them on...
Once you have the dress on....you will know....the less people you take with you...
to the fitting the better....

I love both dresses....they are beautiful...
I tried on 4 dresses before I chose the right one...

I actually did not even want a strapless dress....I actually wanted a halter...funny thing I never tried on a halter....

Lynn,

I have tried them both on. Well, not these exact gowns, but the ones I tried were extremely close. I loved them both. I could go with either, really!

Skylah,
Style 1 is indeed an Amsale.

Have we seen pics of your dress yet???

I love them both and while the first one is more my style, I think the second one fits a garden wedding better. Great choices!

My vote is for the second one (the lacy one) - beautiful!

#2... GORGEOUS!!!
30.gif

i love #1. i love the material. i love the clean lines of the dress too! i don''t think it''s too big for a garden wedding at all.

have you seen my six-page-dress-fiasco trying to decide on a dress?!! 2 is a very workable number, compared to my, what, 18?
i totally understand!!
28.gif

Both are absolutely stunning, my vote is for #1. Either way, you will look gorgeous~

It really depends on your body type. If you are long and lean I would go with #2. I love ball gowns for wedding dresses because in all reality it may be the only chance you ever have to wear them but I don''t like the empire waist on #1. I would like it better if the sash was around the waist.

They are both pretty and very suitable... however, I get the impression that #1 is pretty expensive (Amsale) and I must say, that for the amount of money I suspect it may cost, it doesn''t look particularly impressive. (Yes, it is GORGEOUS, but it is quite simple and I think there may be other dresses out there that are almost identical for less money). Plus, #1 doesn''t make the model look as shapely as I imagine she probably is (looks spare "up top?)...

#2 is not my personal style, but I think it is a very lovely dress! The lace seems more appropriate and just from the one shot it seems to have more "curve appeal" than dress #1, perhaps? Especially for the garden party you described... plus if you get it custom, you''ll get EXACTLY what you want.

I like #1 better!
