Which ultrasonic cleaner to buy?

I just got myself an ultrasonic cleaner. Does anybody know whether there is any risk in cleaning an SI1 diamond with feathers reaching the girdle in the ultrasonic cleaner?

Thanks.

Yes, I'm also wondering if there is any risk in cleaning an SI1 diamond with feathers reaching the girdle in the ultrasonic cleaner?

Any opinions?

Thanks.

I got a steam cleaner for xmas, the same kind our usual jeweller uses and it is fabulous. It uses only water to clean and it is fast - no scrubbing at all!

I got a used crest one off ebay which has served me very well. It was about $100 but it is big and sturdy enough to clean all kinds of non-jewelery related items like gun parts (selling point to husband).

This time I just bought off of ebay (3 days ago)- CD2800 Sonic Wave Ultrasonic Cleaner- It's kind of a no name brand. This one plugs in, and although it is plastic construction- it's a lot thicker, sturdier, larger, and the tank that holds the water is steel. I have used it once- just got it last night in the mail- and it works wonderfully. Purchased for $30 off of ebay- shipping was an additional $10.

I bought this from Amazon a while ago, and it's worked very well for me. Doesn't get my stuff quite as clean as they do in jewelry stores, but I think that's because I haven't been using hot enough water. A jewelry salesperson told me they use near-boiling water in their ultrasonics, so I'll see if it works better with warmer water.

How big is it? I would love to have one like my jeweler uses. The professional ones have powerful dry steam, so you don't get water stains. Maybe you can post a picture of it? :appl:
