I’m looking at round stones with color D-G (possibly H), Ideal Cut and SI1 in the 1.6-1.8 ct range. I’m trying to keep the cost as long as possible.

To get into the bigger ct, I’m not willing to sacrifice further or color or cut. I’m trying to decide if I should save some money by buying a SI1 stone that’s NOT eye clean. Do you think this is a bad sacrifice to make? Is it worth going smaller in size to get eye clean? Does the average person notice? I know it’s dependent on the actual stone but generally speaking...

I would not. You can find an eye clean SI2. It just takes a little filtering. But I would not buy a stone with visible inclusions.

Unless you are very color sensitive or it's a cultural preference, D through F may be a bit of overkill if you are looking to balance a budget for size. A G or H should be plenty white for many, but again, it depends on your sensitivity and requirements.

Is the stone for you or someone you are asking to marry you?

If the latter, it is their view that is most important, not yours or ours!

Why need to sacrifice?. I'm sure WF can find you an "eye clean" SI1 stone in your carat range.

You can find an eye clean SI1 from WF! You can also find eye clean SI1s from HP diamonds, as they guarantee all stone are eye clean.

Found one! with my dream proportions.... OP, If I were you I would put this stone on hold now!. An SI1 stone with "no clouds" don't come by everyday. This is a perfect SI1 stone and you probably can prong the crystal near the edge..;))

Depends entirely on where the inclusion is and what the inclusion is.
If it's a prongable spot of carbon - can't beat an eyeclean-once-set stone for a non-eyeclean price.
If it's visible once set from face-up (and through normal viewing tilt) or poses structural or transparency issues - hard pass for an engagement ring centerpiece.

They have plenty of eye clean SI1 but the price jumps up it seems when they’re eye clean.

Thank you. Yes I’ve found beautiful eye clean SI1 stones on WF but it seems the price jumps up a bit when they’re eye clean.

Thank you! I looked a few GIA graded H stones at a jeweler this weekend that were ideal cut and I wasn’t loving them. I’m not sure if it was the lighting in store, the proportions of the stone or if I’m just color sensitive? But I may look into this. Thanks again.

Would the string fluorescence concern you?

Nope, not at all. I would check with WF that it doesn't impact performance in any way, but then I'd take their word for it.

I'm pretty sure WF would not carry the stone if the strong blue had any affect on the stone. Doesn't hurt to double check with WF
For your own assurance.
