I wanted to share my latest purchase. It was a bit of an impulse buy from Ebay, but after seeing the photos I couldn't stop thinking about it. The seller didn't have very much information on the piece other than it's from Germany, from before WWI. The stone is estimated to be larger than 3 carats, I think it's likely to be bigger. It does have some visible abrasion, measures 12.5mm x 12.5mm. The 18K white gold setting has some engraving but isn't in the best shape but it's very dainty and I like that. There is a slight bit of a window, but the finger coverage is large enough that I can overlook it. Here are some pictures!!

Wow! Gorgeous ring and fascinating cut! Nice find!!!

That is really cool! I have a few rings from that period in that style, and I LOVE them. No asschers, though - you lucky, lucky lady! That's a rare, fun find.

oh MY!! That is an incredible vintage ring you found!! I am fascinated by that asscher and how well its held up!!! It really suits your hand very well - enjoy that beauty - and feel free to share some sun pics... ;))

Wow, what a cool and beautiful ring! I love it, very interesting and looks great on you! Really nice find!

Now that's a seriously cool ring and the finger coverage...........wow! Great find. :appl:

It's really lovely and unique! Nice find!

Oh that's a beauty starburst! The patterning is lovely, and it's in fantastic condition despite its age!! Was it perhaps a special occasion stone? It sounds like the mount shows more wear - do you think it was reset?

I've never seen a step cut white sapphire IRL. Want. :sun:

I've never seen a white sapphire with that cut before! It's very pretty -- and HOLY FINGER COVERAGE, BATMAN!!!

Thank you everyone! I felt that it is rare as well. I really could not resist the finger coverage even though I feel a little silly wearing something so large & ostentatious. Would you guys feel self conscious wearing something like this?

Enerchi - it really is a cool cut because the bottom is a step cut like an asscher but the crown has triangle facets & not step cut. I'll try to get some pics the next time the sun comes out

Yssie - i asked my jeweler to look at it & he said it looks like its in the original setting, it's just really old. The timing coincided with our anniversary & my birthday so I justified it :saint:

Oh sweetie --- it can coincide with garbage day or laundry day or free bread at the supermarket day ---- if you see something that awesome and you know you need it, well, (you know what I'm going to tell you, right??) GET IT!!! Who needs an occassion!!
Just sayin'! ;))
