Perhaps a lapidary can purchase the right rough to cut a pear for you but there'll be some weight loss because I think they are rarely shaped right for pears. A green garnet in that size is $$$$$$.

It's a lovely stone but sadly it just doesn't pop in the setting does it? I'm with the others in that I think you will find an amethyst pear easier to find and it will be stunning in that setting. If you can't find a ready cut pear at least it should be a little bit easier to find someone with a hunk of rough that will cut - keeping my fingers crossed for you.

ETA: Chrono I may be wrong but I think green doesn't come up well for jbk - which is a shame because I thought the tsav looked great in the setting too. OTOH that eyesight flaw may well save her a LOT of money

I love Jerry! He thinks he has some amethyst rough!! And to make sure we'll end up with the best stone size/proportions I'm sending the ring to him. He can get far more precise measurements than I can then he'll decide best proportions/size for maximum performance.
I'm glad I've got some other distractions going on at the moment. It may take him a few weeks to get to it - he's got a lot of work at the moment.

Yea! I am so glad I could help 'show the way'. I don't get over here as much as I'd like to..I think I have too many interests. I LOVE pearls, so I spend alot of time at that other forum And, now don't laugh, I LOVE birds, so the hubby and I have been going birding, and of course birders have a forum...., and with a new camera, I've been taking a lot of bird photos.
