I finally got the ring today - I swear that the last couple days of waiting felt like forever, since it had already been paid for, and I was just waiting for the shipment. I guess that''s my little taste of the waiting game

The ring does look good, but I have a question that I wanted to run by you guys and see if I am just splitting hairs. I got the Tiffany Bead Set Platinum setting, and there is a difference between what I got, and what was on the website. The website shows:

and I got this:

The original Tiffanys ring looks like this:

I have already talked to Jamie at whiteflash and she told me that she has talked to the Design Team and they can correct this on the setting if I want. If I had time before the proposal, I would probably just send it back and have it changed, but since I hadn''t planned for any of this, I have already planned the whole proposal for this weekend. Do you guys think that it is worth sending it back after the proposal (or will she be willing to part with it so soon afterwards), or should I even bring the whole thing up? Its such a small change - but one that makes it look more like the Tiffanys ring. I have had almost no clues from her, aside from pointing out a Tiffanys ring ad in a magazine one time, which is why I''m wondering. Thanks for your thoughts on this - your insights are always so great!

I can''t see the pictures

I can''t either

no pictures for me three

Ryan, I cannot see your pictures either.

How much into details is she? Is it something she''d notice or even remember from the picture? I can''t see your pictures to know how different it looks but if WF will fix it to make it look more like the ring she picked it, I''d do it before you give it to her. It''s really hard to give up a ring, even for a short period of time, once you''ve waited so long to have it on your finger

I also cannot see your pictures. I was thinking along the lines of what mrssalvo said - you know the difference in the setting, but will she? Is it a dramatic difference? If it does bother you get it fixed by WF, preferably before giving it to her - it''s hard to part with the ring once you finally get it! If that''s not possible, then explain the differences to her (or show them to her in pictures) and ask her what she wants to do.

Your picture titles have spaces in them, that''s why the didn''t load properly. All one word, no funny characters.

Hey All-

Sorry about the problems with the pictures...they showed up when i previewed them...and I didnt double check afterwards. Here they are:

Wow, it looks beautiful!

I''m not sure I understand what you''re unhappy with. Propose with this ring and return it if your gf is unhappy with the difference. Otherwise, I think it''s perfect!

Ahhh ... I can finally see your photos.

Your ring is gorgeous - the Tiffany bead-set is one of my favorite setting styles ... but I see what you are talking about - - the pointed channel-end in the WF photo which mimics the channel-end in the Tiffany setting, versus the square channel-end in the ring you actually received.

STILL, is it worth it to mention to your GF or to send the ring back to WF for "correction"?

Unlike other recent threads, it doesn''t sound like your GF was pining for a Tiffany ring - more like she saw a photo in a magazine and simply liked the style.

I have a feeling your GF is going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your ring, and she may never notice the channel-end difference.

My vote is for you to propose with the ring and not worry about sending it back for "correction", unless of course the ring needs to be re-sized or something, in which case, you could have it taken care of as part of that process.

Best of luck to you with the proposal this weekend! I''d love to see some specs on the diamond you selected ... and, of course, some hand pics after the proposal!

i actually like the square ends of the channel better than the taper!

I think the ring looks fabulous and prefer the squared off end. I like it better than the V in the WF version you posted. I agree that it''s not a huge change and unless your GF is very detailed obsessed like us nuts here, she probably will not even notice the difference. That up for you to decide. I thinks it''s perfect as is.

Er... talk about detail obsessed. This is probably my imagination and just a trick of the lighting.
But it looks to me like there is a bit more of a gap between the end of the ring shoulders and the head, than there is with the website example or the original. The squared off channel wouldn''t bother me, but a noticeable gap would. sorry

All in all, that''s a very beautiful ring, and she''s sure to be very happy with it!

I like the V in the tiffany ring...however I prefer the square end of the ring you got over the v end of the whiteflash ring. Theirs doesn''t seem V enough to me.

With WF, I chose to get the designer ring I wanted, vs having them making something "similar". I knew I was going to be picky about it and figured I was setting them up for failure if I had them make it. I don''t know if they told you this or not, but it was made clear to me that they would not make an exact replica (nor should they). The ring would have to be modified so it would not be a copy. Now, whatever would be modified seemed a bit up to their interpretation (unless you had specific ideas) and I didn''t want to take a chance.

That being said, your ring is very nice!

w2w, I think that is an amazingly beautiful ring. I am sure that she will love it.

Thanks for all the input - its been reassuring to hear what people here think, since this is where i learned most of what I know now

It sounds like a lot of you guys actually like the squared off edges better, which is great to hear ''cause that means I wouldnt need to even worry about changing anything.

For a little more background, my gf doesnt wear much jewelry at all (I’ve seen her wear necklaces maybe 2-3 times in the past 4 years), and so i had very few clues as to what style to go with. I ended up picking the Tiffanys style ring because the ONLY comment I have ever heard made by was her pointing out an ad on the back of a magazine to ''explain'' that the Tiffany rings were different because they had 6 prongs. Honestly, I am not sure she knows much about the Tiffanys ring other than it has 6 prongs.

Indie: If I understand what you are4 saying correctly, then I think it is just a picture thing, since the website picture is straight on, and the ring picture is at an angle. When I looked at the actual ring, i dont see a gap between the head and the start of the channel.

Browneyes: About the stone: There''s a slight discrepancy between the AGS report and the Sarin that was done:
0.734 ct I/VS1 ES from Whiteflash
Depth: 62.6
Table: 55.3 (55.0 on the Sarin)
Crown Angle: 35.2 (34.7 on the Sarin)
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
HCA=2(AGS) or 1.5(Sarin)
The idealscope is what tipped the scales, though, since a lot of people on here told me that it was great

Thanks again for all the great advice on here...i can only imagine what I would have ended up with if I hadnt found this place

Ya know, I don''t think the original Whiteflash pix that you think shows a "V" end actually does. Seems like a weird lighting glitch & its actually a pix much if not exactly like the ring that was sent.

I think legally there has to be SOME dif between Tiff design & others, maybe that''s where they make the diff??

Anyway - I think the ring looks gorgeous. Congrats! Hand pix when you "do the deed"!!
