I've done a wealth of reading on purchasing diamonds but still feel overwhelmed deciding in the right diamond,
I'm looking for an ideal cut round diamond - the bigger the better but of course with quality in mind within a price range of 6000-8500 ..

Can anyone help me choose ? If you were purchasing where would you look? Would you do eBay? What are the techniques experienced buyers use?

Any help would be amazing

Hi Reighnbeau

Your quest for ideal cut diamond with the budget of $6000-8500 is good, I think you should be able to buy
1ct diamond with excellent cut, excellent polish & excellent symmetry.

I would recommend you the stores which can give you 30 days return policy or more with warranty and Upgrade policy, I think
you get better deals on the online stores than going on ebay, I am not sure though.

The only technique that you require is asking right questions about the diamond from the Sales person, like request for the
Image, type of inclusions and location of inclusions which will help you tremendously understand the diamond without really
looking at the stone in person.

Hope this will help :)

Honestly, around here we have trusted online vendors that supply images of light performance, which is what you want to see. NEVER compromise cut quality (optics - not the shape of the stone).

I would start with any of these vendors (and I'm sure others will be along shortly to recommend specific stones):

Good Old Gold
Whiteflash
Brian Gavin Diamonds
James Allen
