Who sold you the most beautiful diamond you own?

I was lucky to inherit my MIL's solitaire after she passed in 2005. It is a 2ct. radiant stone. I would never be able to top it.....super saprkly. It's very bittersweet to wear it.

Wonderful experience dealing with Jonathan at Good Old Gold! :appl:

JbEG did. It's a 1.57 ct Eightstar and it's just tooo gorgeous. My ACA's BGD's, JF TH, and GOG that I had are all outstanding. but if I had to pick just one........

Brian Gavin when he was at Whiteflash -- an ACA.

The runners up (in alphabetical order):
Brian Gavin personal selection diamond
Diamond Ideals
Good Old Gold

These are all superideals

I rarely see DiamondIdeals name anymore, I bought my wife's ER there, couldn't be happier.

Windy, i think it's great you feel that way about your MIL's stone. I'd love to see pictures of it, or it's own thread. There's not many radiants around here and I'm always interested in seeing more.

I recommend Brian Gavin Diamonds.

Probably less than you'd expect considering all of the colored diamonds are under 0.30 ct.
It is just the fancy macro photography equipment that makes them look like big honking museum pieces.
Here they are on table salt crystals which gives an idea of scale.

Kenny-   Simply stunning!!

Hehe well the balloned images are super impressive! even if they ar less than 0.3ct nevertheless they are truly beautiful....I can't decide which ones is my favourite they all have a beautiful colour to them!

I bought both my e-ring stone (RB), setting and round eternity band from WF. I've been very happy and will continue
to go back when I need a diamond

My H&A RB is from Excel Diamonds - D with SB fluor, and it's gorgeous!

And I adore my AVC from GOG too...

Can't pick just one! But I'd say Jonathan and everyone at GOG has super CS and are always patient and nice.

For rounds, Crafted by Infinity (through Wink at High Performance Diamonds). I've owned 3 Infinity diamonds. All gorgeous and all remarkably consistent in appearance (sparkle, fire). I'm saving for an upgrade in size -- that's how much I love these diamonds.

For something other than an RB, I'd choose an Octavia cut (sold by GOG). Hope to own one someday!

My engagement ring diamond is from DI, it's the most beautiful diamond I've owned or seen in person.

I love all my diamods for various reasons so I can't say one is more beautiful than the other as they all are to me.

In no particular order

Radiant - Diamonds By Lauren
Asscher - Diamond Wholesale Corporation
Marquise - Union Diamond
Round - Whiteflash

Well, given that BN will not give you photos, ASET, or Idealscope, you certainly are buying totally blind...if that's the experience you want. :wink2:

My FI purchased my diamond from BN. No, we didn't see it first, but he was able to talk to someone that looked at the diamond for him prior to purchasing it. Personally, I feel your "Well if you want to shoot yourself in the foot, suit yourself!" type of response to be rather uncalled for and unnecessary.

Now to answer the actual question, my most beautiful diamond did come from Blue Nile. Our B&M jeweler and the appraiser simply could not believe how nice of a diamond we were able to get for the price we paid.

#1 ---- Asscher engagement stone from Golda Jewelry in NYC's Diamond District
#2, #3 & #4 --- vintage OECs from Old World Diamonds

I've been very impressed with the Octavia & August Vintage stones from GOG --AND-- the cushions that ERD & Leon Mege have sourced for folks over the years. And GOOD GOLLY: Kenny's colored stones collection. (Even though I'm a step cut girl generally, that green blows my mind!)

Kenny,

What kind of photography creates the colored look in the octavia photo (778.png)?

I intentionally introduced colors into the environment between the rings and the camera lens.
The camera lens is behind that hole.
The rings are resting on top of that little black box.

It would be fun to experiment with different patterns of colors and see the effects in the diamonds.

Sneaking back in at the end of the thread. The most beautiful diamond I own is my HOF stone, which was sold to me by local jeweler. Although it has a very big markup, this is my forever stone. It took numerous trades and upgrades to finally get here ::)
I might go for a tiny jump in size, but it won't look any different because my setting is a halo!

My favorite diamond is the one in my engagement ring and I got that through Brian Gavin Diamonds.

I have a question for those who have purchased from Brian Gavin Diamonds, or similar vendors. Are you purchasing the diamonds without having seen them in person (i.e. just viewing the certificates, ASET images, idealscope images, etc. online)? Or is it typical to arrange a meeting where you can view your diamond in person before purchasing for these online vendors?

Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Not dumb at all. You can do both, if you are in or willing to go to Texas. Both my stones have been purchased online. You do see
a picture of the actual stone, and all the reports that go with it. You have a lab report that shows you the inclusion pattern.
With Brian's signature stones, and some others, they will look at the stone and tell you if they are eye-clean to your specs. The best
thing about dealing with Brian and Leslie is that you can trust what they say. Brian is an expert cutter and his methods for cutting
and choosing a beautiful diamond are great. Sometimes, on certain stones, you will find a note that Brian has added that says,
"this is an amazing stone" or something like that. That, is a great find in my opinion.

Not a dumb question at all -- in fact, it's a good question. You will get more responses if you start a new thread on this subject, but here's my experience:

I've purchased online just through images (both on the vendor's website, and looking at images posted here). That was how I made my first diamond purchase. Once I decided on the stone I wanted, I contacted the vendor (Wink at High Performance Diamonds) and spoke to him about the diamond over the phone. I've upgraded my diamond several times (like many of us have here -- ahem!) and I've always chosen what I wanted through images first and then spoken to Wink on the phone about any questions I had. A good vendor will be able to look at the stone and give you his/her impressions of the stone's appearance, color, clarity, etc., though your eyes are always the final judge. Wink has provided me videos and photos of the stone, too, and these are helpful, especially if you're comparing two stones from the same vendor and trying to make a decision on size, color, and clarity. Yesterday, I saw my new diamond via a Skype "viewing" with Wink, which was a great way to see the stone and ask questions while I was seeing the stone over the web.

Thanks for the quick response! I live in NYC so Texas is quite a hike for me. When you say that both of your stones have been purchased online, do you mean without having seen them in person first? How does that work exactly? If you order the stone without viewing it first, I would imagine upon receiving it, you would immediately get the stone independently appraised to see if you received what you ordered and to see what kind of value you got? And if then appraisal is not up to snuff, you just return the stone within the allotted number of days? What is the typical number of days for a return policy (for BGD for example)?

Rookie..I live in NYC too but my e-ring and wedding band were both bought from Whiteflash in TX. I did everything over the phone, sent pics and drawing (we had the setting custom made) via email. It was easy, great and best yet...saved on TAX!
