Why does everyone pass on dessert but when...

I can't think of a time when I've ordered dessert at a table full of non-orderers, so I don't have a set rule. I usually share desserts with other people (group decision before ordering) or don't order at all. But I think I would get upset if I wanted the whole thing and was hijacked, or even worse, dessert shamed and THEN hijacked!

The other night, I went out with my husband and another couple, and no one else wanted dessert. I ordered a piece of pie to go, and the other guy who is staying with my husband and I right now said to save him a bite. I said no, it was all for me! HA! And I really did eat the whole thing and not save him any :-p Maybe if he had asked instead of telling, I might have felt differently, but I really wanted that whole piece of key lime pie!

My thighs need dessert like I need a hole in my head!

I am virtually incapable of NOT ordering dessert, especially flour-less chocolate torte, so I'm thrilled when I get a few bites and everyone else finishes it.

You all can have most of my dessert any time you'd like! :saint:

There is a corollary to this: Why does everyone insist on ordering you a dessert even when you don't want one and then try and guilt trip you about it "going to waste" if you don't eat it? Really?
