If Tiffany can laser inscribe their diamond, why can''t others make fake Tiffany inscription? I mean with today''s technology, is it that hard? Just curious.

Not safe. Buffing off inscription should be relatively easy. Inscription will need expensive equipment, probably traceable as only a few machine are sold.

Why would anyone want a fake Tiffany inscription?

I think she is concerned about identifying her own Tiffany ring over time, and is wondering whether the inscription is actually a failsafe way of identifying a Tiffany diamond.

In that case, it is really no different than identify the counterfit bags etc - you can tell by looking at the font etc .. they are never identifical to the real thing.

An inscription is a bit like locking your car. Or your house. Thieves can still get in, you know...
