will this work as an engagement ring?

There are many people on here that feel a solitaire type ring is what an engagement ring should be. I have also seen people coment on how rings with halos are not engagement (y).. I disagree! I think that whatever you want to wear for your life, and that both of you love, it what you should get. I really like the ring you posted. I think its cool how it incorporates your birthstones in to it! Go for it!

I think it''s pretty and I love the significance of the sapphires. What it ultimately comes down to the fact that you love it. And that an engagement ring can be anything you want it to be. There is one PSer if i''m not mistaken that didn''t like her hands so she got an engagement necklace. It''s all about what works best for you!

Beautiful ring!!! I''m with the other posts, an engagement ring is whatever you want it to be. As long as you both love it, then go for it! And I''m sure everyone will know what it signifies once you wear it on your ring finger.

PS, I also love Tacori settings. Have fun :)

I truthfully never liked the halo setting because EVERYONE seems to have one lately. this is a new take on it though and i love that! my diamond .83 round brilliant cut and i want a ring that is going to make that stone appear larger, one that is different, and one with lots of sparkle!!! i would love to see this one in person. from what i gather, tacori rings are alot more delicate than they appear in the pictures...

I give it a thumps up! It''s very unique. I would love to see it in person.

I think it''s magnificent! Very Art Deco, and certainly within the scope of the "traditional" engagement ring ... just with a twist.

That ring is beautiful. And if you love it that''s what matters. The ring represents an intent to marry. There is not any specific style to represent an engagement as that is up to you. And on PS I think there is quite a variety--colored stones, halos, 5-stone, and antiques. So go with your heart.

I think its very nice. I like uniqueness. You could always do something with side sapphire side stones like this...

Or get just a diamond engagement ring and go with a wedding band like this...

I do love your ring though!

wait it didn't work, I will try again. Sorry.

Like I said, or get a diamond engagement ring and wedding band like this...

I say to go with what makes you happy.

The diamond solitare isn''t for everyone.

I''m not a diamond person really - I like to look at them, but other than Surfgirl''s amazing transitional I have no wish to own one. So, I went for a tsavorite (my avatar) - I wouldn''t swap it for the world and it gets a huge number of compliments.. Even the managers in Tiffany in New Bond Street wanted a closer look...

I think that ring is stunning

. It absolutely looks like an e-ring to me. If you love it, get it, and wear it in good health!

I think it''s stunning! If you''re worried about it not looking like an enagement ring, it does. It''s different, but the center diamond is engagement-y.

Thing is, anything goes nowadays. And engagement rings don''t have to be your traditional solitaire. Princess Diana had that beautiful sapphire with the diamond halo, and Fergie had the giant ruby. My little brother''s fiancee has an amythest because she doesn''t like diamonds. A girl in one of my college classes had an engagement tattoo (and this was over 10 years ago...she''s still married -- with 3 kids!!). When my mom remarried, she got a cocktail ring that was a pave'' heart (she was not a solitaire kind of lady).

Anyway, it''s only in America and in this century that diamonds are the "traditional" stone. In a lot of cultures, people just have wedding bands -- or no rings at all. And in cultures where a lot of jewelery is worn for ceremonial purposes (like in Pakistan and India), other symbols become more important than rings. Bindi''s (the red dots - red signifying good luck - or jeweled stick-ons between the eyebrows) that Indian women wear are to show their marital status. And Amish/Mennonite women, who don''t wear jewelery at all, show the world that they''re married or engaged by a change in the style they wear their hair (single girls can wear their hair loose, but engaged/married women wear it braided or bunned and under a cap) and their clothing (married women''s clothes are more utilitarian).

My thought on this is: you have to wear it for the rest of your life. Get what YOU like.

I think it can be whatever you want! I originally thought I wanted a sapphire/diamond combo, too! Then I discovered halos and it was all over

I told my BF I didn''t care if he proposed with a bread tie, I''d say yes (but there better be a nice replacement at some point

Besides the fact that rings have changed so much in the last few years. When I had my first ering well over 13 years ago, everything was gold! Now it''s all WG and Platinum. So, go with what works for you and makes you happy!

I love it!

Get whatever you like! You will be the one to wear it so get what you are happy with!

It''s beautiful... and significant! If you love it, then that''s all you need :)

Pandora, I am honored that my ring had allowed you to open yourself up to the possibility of liking (dare I say, loving?) a diamond.

cbs, I think that Tacori is lovely and of course you can use it as an ering. It looks very Art Deco to me and I love the unique use of the sapphires. I dont consider that a "halo" like the typical halo at all. It''s quite organic to that design and doesn''t scream any particular setting style, and at the same time has an air of mystery about it. If I saw it on someone''s hand I''d think it might be vintage Deco. I''d love to see that in person. I say, go for it!

I love it, it''s beautiful! If it''s what you want, then I say go for it! I''d say almost anything, hey anything can be an e-ring!

Yup, your precious has converted me into a gemstone AND diamond whore...

I''ve even told FI I now NEED to own a diamond like that one day - even he thought it was fabulous and he doesn''t ''get'' rocks at all!

He is always trying to convince me to actually charge people for design jobs I do on the side, so he says I need to print out a picture of your diamond and look at it before I say ''oh for goodness sake forget it, it only took me an hour...'' and put the ££ towards a baby version of the ''Surfgirl Special''!

I think that would make an amazing e-ring! I actually told my fiance the other day as we were browsing through the tacori website that if he were to ever get me a sapphire/diamond ring that I want that exact same one!

I will probably get a sapphire and diamond engagement ring - so I obviously think this will work beautifully. And I think that Tacori ring is stunning! I would love to see it in person.

an engagement ring is whatever you want it to be. its a symbol of the love between you and your to be hubby - in my opnion, that ring is beautiful!

I love that ring! Your ering can be anything you want it to be! I would love to have a sapphire engagement ring.

I say whatever makes YOU happy is the perfect ring

Yes, most definitely! I love Tacori rings... they''re so unique and beautiful! I have seen proposals on "I Propose" (Style network) Pearls and saphires as the e-ring.. very different, but whatever you desire should be yours!

I think the ring you posted is absolutely beautiful and perfect for an engagement ring! It is unique and you will likely not meet someone else with the same e-ring, that is SUPER COOL in my book!

I am completely late to the party here, but i saw this ring online on my own and then was searching old threads looking for it when i found this one! I have to say, this ring is sooooo beautiful and I LOVE IT! i think the diamond as the center makes it eringy enough and the shape of the sapphires is so unique and pretty!

This ring was also discussed in this prior thread, so check it out for other opinions if you like:

That ring is beautiful and I think it''ll make an amazing engagement ring. I love seeing unique or different e rings. After all, it''s a very important ring for YOU so why shouldn''t it be something that you love and something that reflects who you are?
