Will winter storm affect my FedEx delivery?

I am expecting my ring from BGD to be sent either today or tomorrow. However, I live in Chicago and they are calling for 1-2 feet of snow between today and Wednesday. I am concerned that this will affect my FedEx delivery and that I will not have my ring in time for Saturday when we leave for Maui for a week.

Has anyone had an overnight delivery from FedEx be delayed due to weather conditions? I am kind of freaking out over here....

I'm in the same boat, LM. My delivery is coming from the West going to the Midwest, and we are looking at up to 2 feet of snow by Wednesday (plus blizzard conditions). I imagine there will be some disruption on Fed Ex's delivery schedule in the Midwest. How bad it will be is the question. But I would think you'll have your ring by Friday. Crossing my fingers....

P.S. Can't wait to see photos of your new ring --- the CADs looked amazing.

I don't know about FedEx, but I had two UPS shipments delayed due to our storm in the Northeast last week. One was regular ground and the other was overnight. I really hope you don't have to wait, though! I think Chicago is better at dealing with snow than Philly is...

I want to add that on Friday, I had to call FedEx. They wanted to deliver the package today . I had to talk with the manager and that’s why they came on Friday. So I will recommend you to give them a call if they get delay.

Ok thanks for the heads up Gaby. I have emailed Jamie at BGD about my concerns. She said that they had one delay shipping to NY during the recent storm and is offering to ship my ring directly to Maui if I want. Not sure what I want to do yet...

How long of a delay?

One day. I sent it Wednesday and it was supposed to arrive Thursday. Instead it got there on Friday.

Ok, well that makes me feel a bit better. If it's just one day, I think it will be fine. Even if it ships tomorrow, it should still get here by Friday, right? The snow will have ended by Wednesday evening so that would give an extra 2 days...

Ok, Jamie told me that they had a 1 day delay shipping to NY during the blizzard there and a 2 day delay shipping to rural areas. So, I am confident that even if the weather does present a problem I will still have the ring by Friday. It will be shipping tomorrow, which means I will have glamour shots to share tomorrow!

I've also signed up to receive email notifications from FedEx if they are experiencing any service interruptions, just for extra peace of mind.

I have an update from Jamie at BGD --> If my ring ships today, as it is scheduled to do, their FedEx rep says there is almost no guarantee that it will be here by tomorrow, as they have to go through the Memphis hub and any delays will result in a huge backlog of packages, meaning my ring could be "stuck" somewhere for God knows how long. So...we are going to wait until Thursday, when everything should have settled down, and Jamie is going to talk to the FedEx rep again to see if things are up and running on schedule. If so, they will ship it that day and it will be here by late Friday morning. If things aren't running on schedule yet, we are going to wait until I get to Maui (assuming that my flight leaves as scheduled) and have it shipped to me there.

Ugh...this is such a nightmare!!! I just want my ring, dammit!!!! At least I will have the glamour shots by this evening. They are putting the finishing touches on the milgrain right now!
