The gifts that are bestowed upon royal couples upon the event of their marriage are many, Diana received a set of sapphires among her many gifts, the saudi sapphire set was spectacular. Perhaps Kate will wear these? Perhaps there will be many photos coming up soon of her with her own jewels given to her upon her marriage!

A little bit of interesting info about the title of William's mother...Princess of Wales....

'Princess of Wales (Welsh: Tywysoges Cymru) is a British courtesy title held by the wife of The Prince of Wales since the first "English" Prince of Wales in 1283. Due to the mortality rate and the fact that very few Princes of Wales married prior to ascending the throne (if that), there have in fact been only ten Princesses of Wales. The wife of the present Prince of Wales, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is legally the Princess of Wales, but does not promote it out of respect for the late, Diana, Princess of Wales
Princesses of Wales
Diana, Princess of Wales held the title until her death in 1997.

The ten Princesses of Wales (and the dates the individuals held that title) are as follows:

1. Joan of Kent (held title 1361–1376) — became dowager princess when her husband, Edward, the Black Prince, died as Prince of Wales.
2. Anne Neville (1470–1471) — through her marriage to Edward of Lancaster, though there is no record of her having used the title. She became queen consort when her second husband became King Richard III of England.
3. Catherine of Aragon (1501–1502) — became dowager princess when her first husband, Arthur, died as Prince.[2] She remarried Arthur's younger brother, Henry, shortly after his succession in 1509 and became queen consort.
4. Caroline of Ansbach (1714–1727) — became queen consort when George II ascended to the throne.
5. Augusta of Saxe-Gotha (1736–1751) — dowager when husband Frederick, Prince of Wales died.
6. Caroline of Brunswick (8 April 1795–29 January 1820) — Married George, Prince of Wales on 8 April 1795; became Queen Consort on the accession of her husband as George IV of the United Kingdom. Caroline and George were estranged, and she was barred from his court and from her husband's coronation. An attempt to divorce her by act of Parliament in 1820 failed. Queen Caroline died 7 August 1821.
7.
Royal Warrant Princess of Wales 1870
Alexandra of Denmark (10 March 1863–22 January 1901) — The daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark, she married Albert Edward, Prince of Wales and became Princess of Wales on 10 March 1863. On the ascension of her husband as Edward VII of the United Kingdom, she became Queen Consort following a 37-year wait on January 22, 1901. Queen Alexandra died 20 November 1925.
8. Mary of Teck (9 November 1901–6 May 1910) — Married George, Duke of York on 6 July 1893 and became Duchess of York; became Duchess of Cornwall on the accession of her father-in-law as Edward VII of the United Kingdom on 22 January 1901; became Princess of Wales on 9 November 1901; became Queen Consort upon accession of husband George V on 6 May 1910. She held the titles of Duchess of York, Princess of Wales, Queen-Empress Consort and Queen-Empress Dowager. Queen Mary died 24 March 1953.
9. Diana Spencer (29 July 1981–31 August 1997) — Diana was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, whom she married on 29 July 1981. Following her divorce (28 August 1996) from Charles, Prince of Wales, she lost the style "Royal Highness" and assumed the style of Diana, Princess of Wales that is her personal name immediately followed by her title. Had Diana remarried, any use of the title Princess of Wales would have been lost permanently.[3] Diana died as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile crash on 31 August 1997.
10. Camilla Parker Bowles (2005–present) — Camilla is the second wife of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, whom she married on 9 April 2005. Though entitled to be called The Princess of Wales, Camilla is the first Princess of Wales whose husband previously had another official consort known as The Princess of Wales. Camilla uses the style of Duchess of Cornwall or Rothesay in accordance with public sentiment.[4][specify]

Several Princesses of Wales became queens consort. Those who did not generally took the title of "Dowager Princess of Wales" after the deaths of their husbands. (Following the annulment of Henry VIII's marriage to Catherine of Aragon, Catherine officially reverted to her earlier title of Dowager Princess of Wales, as the widow of Henry's older brother, Arthur, Prince of Wales, because Henry did not wish to acknowledge that he had ever been legally married to her.)

Under the form of male-preference primogeniture in use in the United Kingdom, while a daughter, sister, or other female relative of a monarch may be heir presumptive, none have ever been heir apparent, since it has always (theoretically) been possible for the monarch to beget or bear a male heir who would displace any female heir, even an older sister. In theory, a woman could become heir apparent if she was the brotherless eldest child of a deceased heir apparent; this situation has, however, never arisen in the history of the United Kingdom.

There are cases where the monarch or his or her spouse is too elderly, or suffers from some other disability which practically prevents the birth of a legitimate heir; in such cases, a woman may be de facto heir apparent, as was the case during the reign of William IV, when his evident heir was his niece Victoria. However, the law admits of no impediment to the potential production of future heirs other than death, and Victoria was legally only heir presumptive until she succeeded to the throne.
Status of the title
Mary of Teck, the 8th Princess of Wales
As a Princess of Teck, Mary was the last actual princess by birth to be Princess of Wales.

The Princess of Wales is not a princess in her own right. While some past princesses, for example Catherine of Aragon, Alexandra of Denmark and Mary of Teck, were called Princess Catherine, Princess Alexandra and Princess Mary, that was because they were already princesses (of Spain, Denmark and Teck respectively) when they married. Though Diana, Princess of Wales was commonly called Princess Diana after her marriage to Charles, Prince of Wales, it was officially incorrect, as Diana herself pointed out, because she was not a princess in her own right. Similarly Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is neither Princess Camilla nor Duchess Camilla.

There is, however, one notable exception to this rule. During her youth, Mary I was invested by her father, Henry VIII, with many of the rights and properties traditionally given to the Prince of Wales, including use of the official seal of Wales for correspondence. For most of her childhood, Mary was her father's only legitimate heir, and for this reason he often referred to her as "the Princess of Wales," despite having never formally created her as such. Even her contemporaries addressed her as such, as Juan Luis Vives dedicated his Satellitium Animi to "Dominæ Mariæ Cambriæ Principi, Henrici Octavi Angliæ Regis Filiæ"[5].[1]

When a title was sought for the future Queen Elizabeth II, the possibility of investing her as Princess of Wales in her own right was raised. This suggestion was rejected, because Princess of Wales is a courtesy title held by the wife of the Prince of Wales. If it were used by Princess Elizabeth, it would have degraded her right as a Princess of the United Kingdom unless Letters Patent or Legislation were introduced to the contrary. Furthermore, if the then Princess Elizabeth had been given the title of Princess of Wales, there would have been the problem of what to call her future husband. Therefore, King George VI decided not to give his elder daughter the title.
Other Titles of the Princesses of Wales

The Princess of Wales, by virtue of her marriage to The Prince of Wales, takes on the feminine equivalent of her husband's subsidiary titles. Thus, upon marriage, the wife of The Prince of Wales assumes the styles and titles – Her Royal Highness The Princess (husband’s Christian name) of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, Countess of Chester, Countess of Carrick, Baroness of Renfrew and Princess of Scotland.

If the Princess of Wales divorces. she loses the style of Her Royal Highness but remains Princess of Wales, but loses it if she marries again.

Of all these titles, The Princess of Wales has been used officially, due to it being of a higher rank than the additional peerage titles. However, as noted with the example of the current holder, a subsidiary title may just as easily and legally be used.

The Princess is known as Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, as the Prince of Wales is known as Duke of Rothesay there, the dukedom being the title historically associated with the heir to the Scottish throne. The Princess of Wales also holds the titles of Duchess of Cornwall and Countess of Chester, as spouse to the Prince of Wales who is also Duke of Cornwall and Earl of Chester.
[edit] Native princesses of Wales
Main article: Kingdoms of Wales

Though only Eleanor de Montfort can be definitively shown to have used the title, several consorts of native Welsh princes of Wales were theoretically princesses of Wales while their husbands were on the throne. Llywelyn ab Iorwerth's consort, Joan, Lady of Wales, used that title in the 1230s; Isabella de Braose and Elizabeth Ferrers were likewise married to princes of Wales, but it is not known if they assumed a title in light of their husbands' status.
Notes

1. ^ Camilla's right to hold the title by virtue of her marriage to the Prince of Wales was confirmed by the Lord Chancellor.[specify]
2. ^ Following the controversial annulment of her marriage to Henry VIII Catherine was officially designated the Dowager Princess of Wales until her death.
3. ^ Diana, Princess of Wales — Biography — Marriage and family
4. ^ The right of Camilla to use the title Princess of Wales was debated prior to her royal marriage. The Lord Chancellor, having reviewed the case, ruled that as the wife of The Prince of Wales, Camilla would automatically become The Princess of Wales unless a change in statute law or possibly an Order-in-Council ruled otherwise. No Bill or Order-in-Council was introduced to deny Camilla the use of the title. She however does not use the title (seen by many as a mark of respect for the previous holder), and instead uses one of the alternative titles possessed by each Princess of Wales. Similarly, as wife of The King, she will automatically be The Queen Consort. However, she has publicly stated that she intends to use an alternative title, Princess Consort.
5. ^ "To the Lady Mary, Prince of Wales, Daughter of Henry VIII, King of England".

A little bit about the life of the first Lady Diana Spencer,
"The original Lady Di was born Diana Spencer to the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough in 1734, the young Diana showed an affinity for art. With the luck of being born into one of the grandest families, the young Diana was more than a passing acquaintance with Joshua Reynolds, a family friend.

When she was 23 she made an advantageous marriage to Frederick, Viscount Bolingbroke. Frederick, or 'Bully,' as he was known wasn't exactly looking to get married at that time, he being 23 as well. While walking with Di in the pleasure gardens he jokingly proposed to her and then before he knew it, Frederick was married On the condition of being married, the viscount insisted on keeping his bachelor lifestyle; basically pretending Di didn't exist except to give him heirs. He partied, gambled, slept with many women, and racked up huge amounts of debt. There are also rumors of him having a violent nature. Di distracted herself by becoming a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Charlotte.

It was only so long that Di could handle her miserable marriage. Neither party was happy so she took the initiative to solve this problem. She had an affair with Topham Beauclerk. Beauclerk was a friend of Dr Johnson and was notoriously...stinky. It was once reported of him that he was so filthy he generated vermin. Either way, Di fell in love with him or maybe just saw him as a convenient means of securing a divorce, although it meant becoming a social outcast. When Frederick found out about her adultery he immediately filed for divorce, making the both of them happy. Divorces were unusual (despite the frequent adultery) due to their expense and hassle. Bolingbroke's passed in a month; two days later Diana married Beauclerk.

Despite her social ostracism from respectable society Di was a permanent fixture in the Devonshire House Circle. She had four of Topham's children and began to hone her artistic skills. She illustrated a number of books including one of Horace Walpole's. But of course more gossip-worthy scandal followed into her next marriage. In Brady-Bunch style, one of her sons with Frederick starting a relationship with one of Beauclerk's daughters. Other from that, the remainder of Di's life was happy until her husband's death in 1780. After Topham's death she lived quietly until her own death in 1808.

"Kate Middleton's Engagement Ring

The engagement of Britain's Prince William to his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton, has sent many British royal family watchers searching for details about Kate Middleton's engagement ring. Prince William gave Kate his mother's ring in a meaningful tribute to the late Princess Diana and to his future bride. Learn about the exquisite ring made famous by the iconic Princess Diana and now proudly worn by Prince William's future bride.

The Courtship of William and Kate

William and Kate met when they were both studying art history at University of St. Andrews in Scotland. They first became friends and then starting dating. Yet unlike other college sweethearts, he is the second in line to the British throne and she is the daughter of upper middle class entrepreneurs. This fact put the courtship in the public eye because royal watchers around the world were fascinated by the fairy tale quality of a prince picking a regular girl.

After eight years of dating, William proposed to Kate. In an exclusive interview with Tom Bradby of ITV New, they made it clear that the eight years of courtship gave them time to come together as mature adults who love each other, share a deep friendship and also understand their public roles as married royals.
How William Proposed

While on vacation in Kenya, William surprised Kate by proposing with his mother's ring. The couple has kept the exact details of William's proposal private but both say it was romantic in the Tom Bradby interview. The interview also revealed that William got Kate's father's blessing before proposing to her. They were quietly engaged for a month before making a public engagement announcement to the media on November 16, 2010. They plan to marry in 2011.
Princess Diana's Engagement Ring Is Now Kate's

Proposing with Princess Diana's ring was very meaningful to her son, William, and his intended. During the Tom Bradby interview, he said, "It's my mother's engagement ring, so of course it's very special to me, and Kate's now very special to me, so it was only right to put the two together." He also said that "giving her (Kate) my mother's ring means she (Diana) won't miss out on the excitement."

Princess Diana selected the ring that her son's future wife now wears for her own engagement in 1981. Prince Charles proposed to Lady Diana without an engagement ring. Soon after the engagement, Charles presented Diana with a tray of engagement rings designed by royal family's jeweler, Garrard Jewellers, for her engagement ring selection. She chose a stunning sapphire and diamond ring.
Ring Description

Kate Middleton's engagement ring is an oval 18 carat gold and blue sapphire encircled by 14 brilliant-cut diamonds on a cluster setting in an 18K white gold band. The 1981 jewelry exchange rates estimated the elegant ring was worth 28,000 pounds (equivalent to $65,000) when Princess Diana selected it.

Elegant Royal Ring Has Many Replicas

Princess Diana's popularity and the beauty of the elegant sapphire and diamond combination led to many fashion and fine jewelry replica rings becoming available to the public at various price ranges. These replicas are still around today and more will likely become more available as the 2011 royal wedding approaches. Royal watchers can purchase replica rings as souvenirs and tributes to Diana's son and his bride. "

Some might wonder why I have not posted a whole lot lately about kate and wills...pictures i mean....I have unfortunately found that there are many many trojan horses and other viruses attached to many of the files associated with those searches having to do with them..it seems that because the searches for kate and wills are popular now, people are taking advantage of the searchers and trying to infect computers via photos and sites dedicated to the couple. So please forgive the absence of many kate pictures, I will continue to try to find safe material to upload, but it may take me a bit....Here is some info on Kate I found that was safe!
"Catherine Elizabeth "Kate" Middleton (born 9 January 1982) is the fiancée of Prince William of Wales. Since their relationship began, Middleton has received widespread media attention and there was much speculation that they would eventually marry. On 16 November 2010, the office of the Prince of Wales at Clarence House announced their engagement. On 23 November, it was announced the wedding will take place on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey, with the day declared a bank holiday in the UK.

Middleton grew up in Berkshire and, after attending Marlborough College, went to the University of St Andrews, where she met Prince William, also studying there, in 2001. They started a relationship, followed by media attention, triggering complaints by Middleton that the media were harassing her. In April 2007, the press reported that William and Middleton had split up. They continued to be friends, and later in 2007 they reunited. Since then, Middleton has attended many high-profile royal events. She has been admired for her fashion sense and has been placed on numerous "best dressed" lists.
Early life

Middleton was born at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire.[1]:32 She is the oldest of three children born to Carole Elizabeth (born 1955, née Goldsmith), a flight attendant, and Michael Francis Middleton (born 1949), a flight dispatcher in 1980 and an airline officer in 1982 for British Airways. Michael and Carole were married on 21 June 1980 at the Parish Church of Dorney, Buckinghamshire.[2] In 1987 Michael and Carole Middleton founded Party Pieces, a mail order company that sells party supplies and decorations.[3] They have since become millionaires.[4]

Middleton was raised in Bucklebury, Berkshire.[5] Her paternal family came from Leeds, West Yorkshire, and her great-grandmother Olivia was a member of the Lupton family, who were active for generations in Leeds in commercial and municipal work.[4] Carole Middleton's maternal family, the Harrisons, were working class labourers and miners from County Durham.[6] Middleton has two siblings, Philippa Charlotte, known as "Pippa",[7] and James William.[8] Pippa Middleton, a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, has received press coverage since her sister became famous, with focus on her relationships and lifestyle.[9]
[edit] Education

Middleton was educated at St. Andrew's School in the village of Pangbourne in Berkshire in South East England, then briefly at Downe House,[10] before moving on to Marlborough College, a co-educational independent school at Marlborough in Wiltshire in South West England,[11] followed by the University of St Andrews in the town of St Andrews in Fife, where she met Prince William and graduated with a 2:1 (Hons) in the History of Art.[12]
[edit] Relationship with Prince William

Middleton's unsubstantiated status as the girlfriend of Prince William brought her widespread media coverage in the UK and abroad, and she was often photographed on her daily outings. On 17 October 2005, she complained through her lawyer about harassment from the media, stating that she had done nothing significant to warrant such publicity.[13]

In February 2006, it was announced that Middleton would receive her own 24-hour security detail supplied by the Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Department. This fuelled further speculation that she and Prince William would soon be engaged, since she would not, otherwise, be entitled to this service. No engagement occurred, and Middleton was not granted an allowance to fund this security. Media attention increased around the time of Middleton's 25th birthday in January 2007, prompting warnings from both Prince Charles and Prince William and from Middleton's lawyers, who threatened legal action. Two newspaper groups, News International, which publishes The Times and The Sun, and the Guardian Media Group, publishers of The Guardian, decided to refrain from publishing paparazzi photographs of her.[14]

Middleton attended at least one event as an official royal guest, Prince William's Passing Out Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on 15 December 2006.[15]
[edit] Breakup and reconciliation
With Prince Harry (at left), June 2008

On 14 April 2007 The Sun newspaper broke a "world exclusive" suggesting that Prince William and Middleton had split up.[16] Other media outlets such as the BBC confirmed the story as the day progressed. The couple decided to break up during a holiday in the Swiss resort of Zermatt.[17][18]

Clarence House made only one comment about the relationship's end, according to The Times, stating, "We don't comment on Prince William's private life."[19] Newspapers speculated about the reasons for the split, although these reports relied on anonymous sources. The original report in The Sun quoted a "close friend of the couple" as saying that Middleton felt William had not been paying her enough attention. The paper highlighted reports that William had been spending time with other young women, and said the Prince, aged 24 at the time of the split, felt he was too young to marry.[20]

A report in the Daily Mail blamed a desire by royal courtiers not to "hurry along" a marriage announcement, and William's desire to enjoy his bachelor status within his Army career. The Mail also suggested that William's friend Guy Pelly encouraged the Prince to take a "careless approach" to relationships. The same article suggested that Middleton had "expected too much" in wanting William to demonstrate his commitment to her.[21]

In June 2007, Middleton and Prince William insisted they were "just good friends" following reports of a reconciliation.[22] Middleton and her family attended the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium; she and William sat two rows apart.[23] The couple were subsequently seen together in public on a number of occasions, and several news sources, including the BBC and the Daily Mail, stated that they had "rekindled their relationship."[24] Middleton also joined William and Charles on a deerstalking expedition at Balmoral[25] and attended the wedding of William's cousin, Peter Phillips, even though William, due to a prior commitment, did not. In April 2008, Middleton accompanied Prince William when he was awarded his RAF wings at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell.[26] On 16 June 2008, Middleton attended William's investiture into the Order of the Garter along with the Royal Family.
[edit] Engagement and possible titles
Main article: Wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton

On 16 November 2010, Clarence House announced that the couple are to marry in 2011.[27][28] The couple became engaged in October 2010 in Kenya, East Africa, during a 10-day trip to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to celebrate William's passing his RAF helicopter search and rescue course.[29][30] They are to marry in Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011.[31] It is customary for royal men to receive a dukedom when they marry; possible dukedoms for William after his marriage are Clarence, Cambridge, Sussex, Kendal, Avondale, and Strathearn.[32] As the wife of a royal duke and prince, Middleton would assume the title of duchess.[32]

In Letters Patent dated 21 August 1996 (shortly after the divorce of the Prince and Princess of Wales) it was acknowledged that, "by convention", the wife of a son or grandson of the Sovereign is entitled to the style title or attribute of "Royal Highness".[33] If William were not given a title then, after the wedding, Middleton would, by convention (unless explicitly vetoed by the Queen), be known as Her Royal Highness Princess William of Wales[34] taking her husband's first name on marriage (as with Princess Michael of Kent).[35] If, however, William is given a title, she would be known as "Her Royal Highness The Duchess [or other rank if appropriate] of N".
[edit] 2006 to the present

In November 2006 Middleton accepted a position as an accessory buyer with clothing chain Jigsaw.[36]

In September 2007 it was reported that Middleton was planning to give up her job as an accessory buyer to become a professional photographer. Some months later, it was announced that she intended to take private classes with internationally renowned photographer Mario Testino, who had taken several well-known photographs of Diana, Princess of Wales, and her sons. Middleton and Testino apparently were introduced by Prince William. Testino later denied that Middleton was going to be working for him.[37] In December 2007, it was also reported that Middleton had moved in with Prince William at Clarence House, the residence of the Prince of Wales in London.[38] Clarence House later denied this.[39]

On 17 May 2008, Middleton attended the wedding of Prince William's cousin Peter Phillips to Autumn Kelly, which the prince missed attending.[40] On 19 July 2008, Middleton attended the wedding of Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman. Prince William was away on military operations.

On 28 February 2010, The Times reported that Middleton was pursuing an invasion of privacy suit against photographer Niraj Tanna who took pictures of her over Christmas,[41] although they were never published in Britain. Middleton has not pursued the claim against the photographer as of September 2010.
[edit] Fashion icon

Middleton has been featured in several best-dressed lists and was selected by The Daily Telegraph as the "Most Promising Newcomer" in its 2006 list of style winners and losers.[42] Tatler placed her at #8 on its yearly listing of the top ten style icons in 2007.[43] She was also featured in People magazine's 2007 and 2010 best-dressed lists.[44] Middleton was named as one of Richard Blackwell's ten "Fabulous Fashion Independents" of 2007.[45] In June 2008 Style.com selected Middleton as its monthly beauty icon.[46] In July 2008 Middleton was included in Vanity Fair's international best-dressed list.[47]
