Heya folks! It's been a while. I hope you're all doing well.

I've complete my search for 2 more yellow older cut stones. I'm now trying to figure out who would be a good choice to make a Victorian style 5 stone band. Singlestone is an obvious choice but 2k is probably my absolute max so I'm not sure if they'd be a good fit. Any other contenders?

Some of the styles that I like are this one from ebay, this one from RubyLane and this 3stone from Singlestone.

And here are the diamonds. They are a good match for color, though the pictures don't always show it. The cuts are a bit different though. They were all sold to me as OMCs but I'm pretty sure the largest and one of the next largest are either OECs or transitionals. I don't have mm sizes but they graduate from 1ct to 1/2 ct to 1/4 ct.

Beautiful stones!!! WOW - they will make an amazing 5 stone! Would you consider DBL? Lots of beautiful pieces coming out of there lately...

Those stones are absolutely stunning. I think they will make a beautiful band. Please keep us posted. I'd love to see the final product.

Gorgeous! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Those are going to be just YUMMY in a ring together!

Wow, that's going to be a cool ring!

You could try contacting SN Queens http://www.snqueens.com/ they made my aqua setting. I don't know what their work would cost custom though.

Beautiful diamonds, thanks for sharing!

Those will make an absolutely STUNNING ring! Can't wait to see what you decide on.

They're gorgeous Kismet! I can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks all! I'm glad I hunted around for the end two stones. Of course now I have some spare diamonds and settings hanging around too.

Hrm, I forgot about them. I looked through their website and their stuff tends to look more modern. I probably will get a quote from them though since they do quite nice work and work with colored diamonds.

Someone awhile ago had an ETSY store/artist make a pair of victorian spinel earrings and they were to die for. Let me do a quick search....

I would contact them and see about pricing. I think Jill could do a great ring!

Very pretty! I love the high karat gold and granulation but I don't think it would be quite right for what I have in mind. I'm sure she *could* do it but I'd rather not be anyone's learning curve, if you know what I mean.

They have some nice pieces with an antique look to them. What were they like to work with?

Any other antique style vendors that I should contact?

I can't help with any suggestions, but I just wanted to tell you those are gorgeous stones!

i'm not an antique fan so I'm afraid I can't help with setting suggestions but the stones are gorgeous!

This ring is going to be a-mazing - I'm green with envy! ::) Judging by the last photos posted, Hunt Country is looking awfully good.

Beautiful set; they look like they are meant to go together in high karat yellow gold. While I have not worked with Hunt before, they are a very strong contender in my book as their prior work proves themselves.

I'd get a quote from Hunt Country. Their prices are really reasonable from what others have posted. That was my experience as well - I got a quote of less than 1k last year on a ring from them. They have some pieces for sale on their site that may give you an idea of prices... but I'd bet they'd be in budget for you.

Ooh, nice pics. I'll send them an email as well.

So far I've heard back from Singlestone. This is the kind of ring they do all the time and they're very confident of being able to execute it to my satisfaction. They gave a range of prices depending on gallery detail. They came in over what I hoped to spend.

And I've heard back from DBL. This isn't the kind of ring they normally do and from what David said they're not really set up to do filigree work. So I think I'll give them a pass this time around.

After a fairly long wait, I now have waxes! Let me know if your razor sharp eyes spot anything that might need to be changed or questioned.

Not sure if it's the picture or not, but the treatment on the left side of the ring at the left-most diamond doesn't seem to match that on the right-most diamond.

I love the design, though. VERY nice choice!

Hrm, do you mean it looks like there's a center prong plus a prong split between the end stone and the 2nd one in on the left side but only a center prong on the right?

Good eye. Also, is there a way to have the diamonds follow the curve of the ring a bit more? Right now, they look almost linear from the top down on each side, rather than rounded, if you know what I mean.

Kismet, who is actually doing the work?

I also noticed that - its like there is 2 prongs on the left and only a stump of a prong on the right??? Could that be??

But really great to see the update and the design! love the crown or fleur-de-lis detail on the centre stone! THat's going to be stunning! WHo is making it for you - which vendor did you decide to go with?

Hrm, I'm not really sure what you mean by following the curve of the ring. Do you mean the side diamonds should face more out to the side than straight up?

After a bit of dithering I decided to go with Hunt Country Jewelers.

I'm not used to looking at waxes, but I see what they mean by the prongs seem different on each side- but I LOVE the basic design. It is going to be gorgeous!! Is Hunt doing it for you? I've been emailing them about some designs-sounds like the process may be a slow one if that's your vendor!

Super! I'll be sure to follow your thread because I really want to use Hunt for one of my projects.

In looking at the wax, the right side and left sides do not match.
1. The very last left has this U shaped curve while the very last right doesn't.
2. Two of the prongs are also different, comparing the right and the left. The left has this pattern while the right side is plain.
3. The shoulders where the band meets the stone are also not the same in comparing the left and right.

Hunt has been kind of slow (the ring was supposed to have been finished around June 3) but I think I just caught them at a bad time as they overestimated the amount of work they could get done AND plan a wedding.

Thank you all for your input! I knew I could count on the eagle eye vision of Pricescopers.

I don't know if this will help or confuse, but from the profile, looking at the diamonds, the angle is straight down from the top on each side, like two sides of a triangle. I was thinking that you would want it to be more curved. But on closer inspection, I can see that part of it is because the diamonds are not of equal height, and they must set them in a certain way, otherwise, the heights of the setting details will be off and look funny (I think).

If you look at the left-most diamond, there's a distinct fleur-de-lis present there, along with a defined U-shape at the bottom of the fleur-de-lis. That seems to be missing from the right-most diamond. That one looks like it has a plain straight prong.

I now have pics of the final wax for my 5 stone ring. Anybody see anything that looks wonky?
