I'm a newbie and I know it's a smaller range than you are considering, but I upgraded from a .72 E to a .91 F. I can tell the .91 is bigger, but it is not so much bigger for me to justify paying more than 2k for it. I only upgraded because I got an excellent deal on my upgrade. I have the same setting and no one has realized that I upgraded the size. People notice when I add a blingy band though.

I would keep the 3/4 right now and upgrade later. Pay off her car or keep it in savings. Get a nice band for the 3/4, maybe a shared setting half eternity? If your fiance is fine with upgrading now, she will probably be ok with upgrading later for an anniversary.

And if she loves the high E color, maybe just upgrade to a .99ct E. Maybe later on she will want to keep the 3/4 for an earring, or perhaps she will decide she would like to keep it for a pendant. If I only wanted my ring and some earrings, a .99 ct ring and 1.50 ctw earrings would pack a nice punch. Or if I decided I'd like a pendant too, I'd use the 3/4 for the pendant and get a 1 ctw set for the earrings. I think having all E stones would be fabulous!

You two brought up good points. I think I should listen to my gut and keep the 3/4 carat. The money is better off being spent or saved elsewhere.

Thanks for letting me know that upgrading from a 3/4 to just under 1 carat was noticeable, but didn't make a Huge difference. With the money I'm looking at spending, I'd want the upgrade to look pretty substantial.

As you both mentioned, Whiteflash has a lifetime trade up policy, so I can easily upgrade anytime in the future. I just need to chill out and drop the subject.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to help me out.

Certainly an understandable decision CalRon, and you should go with your gut! Your fiancee's current ring looks beautiful on her, and she seems really happy with it so I can see where it makes sense to use the money for other things right now. It was really nice of you to consider doing it, you're a good guy!

Haha, thank you. If she knew how much time and effort I put into this, she'd think I was crazy. I really do have fun researching diamonds. I am a gun and motorcycle enthusiast, so I never once imagined I would find diamonds this interesting.

Great skill to take forward for an exciting upgrade sometime in the future. :naughty:
