Saw a couple of ads on YouTube wherein divorcees are selling engagement rings and bands. They tout getting higher prices for their pieces than (elsewhere). Pieces are appraised and it appears that they go for auction. I tried to look at the goods up for sale to check inventory and prices (other jewelry is on offer too)but I had to register as a buyer and give a bunch of info before seeing anything. I am skeptical. It is like having Cartier check your credit before they let you walk into the store! I have not accessed Louptroop and wondered if this is a similar site and if you have to go through hoops as well. Anybody heard of this site?

I'm curious as well. I had them contact me about a piece I was considering selling but I just didn't know enough about the company.

You don’t have to register to peruse Loupetroupe. Some sellers include an email address in their listing, in which case you don’t even have to register to contact a seller. You would need to register to contact a seller who does not provide an email address - in that case your email would be passed on to the seller through Loupetroop’s software.

From my experience, their offers are quite low

It depends on what the diamond is, but selling an excellent/ideal cut yourself will usually yield more than going through another party. You can use an appraiser to complete the sale with buyer paying for appraisal and final shipping and you just have to send the diamond (or ring) to the appraiser. I used Neil Beaty for this once.
