Is 7K too much for 1.7 carat princess G SI3 stone. The inclusions are VERY faint and VERY hard to notice with the naked eye. Below are the EGL USA report specs.
Depth = 73%
Table = 69%
Crown = 13%
Pavilion = 56%
Polish & Symmetry are both excellent

I''m gonna say YES. I cannot actually find any SI3 diamond available in the virtual inventory linked to PS (Is this even an EGL category?), but an SI2 of those specs with an EGL cert was $7k so I would expect an SI3 (if it is the correct label, do you perhaps mean I1?) to be a fair bit less.

I'm a novice in diamonds but from my research I would say that I've heard that EGL can be lax with their grades of color and clarity and I would get it appraised by a third party.. Have you actually seen the stone in person? I have a SI2 and the flaws in it bother me so much that I would never go below a VS2 again. You mean an I3? Especially in a 1.7 carat stone, I imagine it's big enough to see flaws in (Really have no experience in princess stones so someone else might be more of a help)

EGL USA does have a clarity category called SI3. There is just a "ghost feather" going through part of the diamond. It is so faint that it''s hard to see with the naked eye, but it is very long and visible under the microscope that''s why it received the SI3 rating. I had an SI2 diamond before, and those inclusions were even more visible to the naked eye than this SI3. I guess my question is whether stones with the same exact specs can be priced differently depending on how "severe" the inclusions are to the naked eye?

There are gradations in value based on eye-cleanliness within the SI2 grade for GIA and AGS for sure. Experts here have commented that really the SI2 is a few grades smooshed into one when it comes to pricig on the market. That said, even with the eye cleanliness of this SI3, the cert means something and it was graded an SI3 and so should cost less than and SI2 by the same lab in my opinion. But I cannot find any SI3 EGL princess diamonds to compare with I am afraid.

But this comparison with RBs should help illustrate my point:

~1.7ct G SI3 EGL cert RBs were about $3000.
~1.7ct G SI2 EGL cert RBs were about $5000.

There is no overlap in the range of prices. So that means even the *best* SI3 should cost a little less than the *worst* SI2, and by at least 20% it seems to me.

Anyways, the price you are being given is not totally out to lunch I suppose. You do know that color gradings are more lenient with EGL right? Just something to be aware of. It may be closer to an H or I color if graded by GIA or AGS.
