Would this bother you?

The ones I know of have not been tacky in any way. They are always at a nice restaurant and the guests are given prime rib and open bar. Thats what the ticket price pays for. The groom also buys nice gifts to raffle off - like golf clubs, tools - all the stuff men love

. Every culture is different and I guess its all what you are use to......

If it's common in a certain culture/ region, then it wouldn't be tacky to throw one in that culture/region. I certainly wouldn't be upset to be included in a celebration that is common in that person's culture. If you feel uncomfortable, just send your regrets.

Plenty of mainstream American wedding customs could be considered tacky if looked at from the outside.

Entirely inappropriate...I''d decline all invites, period. Don''t ask me to pay for your wedding.

I understand every culture has their different traditions, but this is one I just wouldn''t participate in.

I think it is horrid, tacky, and classless - and I wouldn't be a part of it. I put this in the same category as poeple who ask for money as wedding gifts.
I don't even like the idea of registering to be honest

How dare someone "raise money" just because they are getting married?
