Would This Bother You?

How did it turn out?

As you can see from my essay, complications arose. My Tiffany store sent the earring back to NY Tiffany. They evaluated it stating that while they will replace the stone for free, the labor would be $275. I told them that the sale associate in my state said it would be free of charge. Furthermore, if they had used the right quality diamond in the first place, there would be no labor. We went back and forth, eventually, I asked them to send the earring back - unfixed. They did.

Shortly after, Tiffany sent me a survey via email, I filled it out (which I never do) spilling all my frustration out. Who reads these anyway? Apparently, they did, lol. I got a call back from a manager (from the store in my state) who stated that the reason why they wanted to charge me was because the diamond "is of a better quality." I asked, "How so? It must be the same size or it will not fit into the prongs and same color or it will not match the other petals." She was quiet. Then she offered to waive the fee due to "misunderstanding and miscommunication." She was nice and professional but a bit confused. So I hesitantly agreed.

I do need them for an early February event so I have not sent them back yet. Truthfully, I am hesitant to do so knowing first and second hand how sloppy their after sale service can be. I worry that they will damage the hallmark that is on the post or that the prong will not be even while "fixing it." So I am still thinking about it. I do not want them to fix one thing only to end up with something else being wrong.

This item is too costly for customers to go through all this. I wish Tiffany did not rely on "we are the best, no one will question our perfect diamonds" and made sure they live up to their name by providing quality products in the first place.

I made a peace with fluorescence but the fact that the stone does not reflect the light as much as others, bothers me. I tested it out a few times and was able to pick out the affected stone each time. I am usually not this difficult by any means but given the earrings' current price tag of $28,000, I might need to be.

That's awful. Like $275 is so small in the grand scheme of things for them. These should be perfect and you should love them, it seems so short-sighted for them to not make you happy.

I don't know what else to say except that I'm really upset for you :(

Very disappointing and not what I would expect from Tiffany.

I would rather have a messed up hallmark - assuming that it might be - than a mismatched stone. You really don’t have much choice in this matter. If you leave it be, you will not be happy. If you attempted to have it replaced yourself, it would no longer seem authentic. This earring should not have been offered for sale IMO and shame on Tiffany for letting this get by their quality control. I would hope that they would take the utmost care in replacing the stone, and keeping you as a valued customer.
Keep us posted and best wishes to you!

Honestly, Tiffany’s has the worst service of any of the high end brands in my experience. I’ve been inside only twice, in two different countries, and they were so rude both times it’s genuinely appalling. I walked out both times.

To now know that the product may be substandard too and they won’t stand by it or fix it without issues? Yeah, I’m never buying Tiffany.

I hope it does get fixed properly for you! I would go through the process of replacing the stone though, even if it meant they’d mess up something else in the earring, since it’s not mind clean for you the way it is.

I was about to reply the same thing to @MissGotRocks and the rest of you that thanks to all of your suggestions, I decided to take them in for a repair. They told me that this "offer" of a free repair only lasts a month :roll2: so I will take them in after my event. I will be as specific as I possibly can to make sure they do not mess it up.

These earrings were a holy grail of studs for me for so long that after receiving a bonus at work, I went for it and got them. I am likewise done with them. I was well aware of their indifference and their philosophy "Clients do not exist for Tiffany after purchases" but did not expect quality issues a month after the purchase. Their sales went down, I wonder why. :confused2:

This was my experience with Tiffany Victoria mixed cluster earrings. It was so frustrating dealing with their customer service and they finally admitted that they botched the job and would have to remake the settings from scratch.

Luckily the remake worked out. I still love the earrings, but I don’t love Tiffany!

This is horrible! Thank you for sharing. Symmetry is very important to me and this was my exact fear - that they will botch it. I have seen and heard stories that made me not trust them. I am glad that it worked out for you in the end. Such expensive purchases, however, should not be nerve-wracking.

will they not consider simply swapping out the entire "matching" earring?
