would you buy a big stone if you felt people would think it''s a fake?

I''d rock a huge stone. Why the heck not?

I buy whatever I want to buy regardless of what people think.....I wouldn''t buy a BIG BIG stone because I would ''feel'' it looks fake (to me) though.

Another who doesn''t care what folks think about my jewelry! haha

Says the woman with one of the most popular rings on PS!

People always think mine is fake, and it''s only 1.01 carats. Wait until I upgrade

LOL! The thought of somebody thinking anything I bought was fake has never crossed my mind. I buy what I want because I like it. I do not consider what "other [unspecified] people" might "think" [using the term loosely].

I certainly would. If I spent time worrying about want other people think of me or my things, I''d never get anything done.

i ask this because i noticed in some threads somer PSers commented that one should wear what they want, while some were hesitant to buy a big stone because in their social setting/area people will perceive it as fake. What do you guys think?
In my personal life, a huge stone would be 3+ carats. No one I know has one. Rich or poor. It would cause a great deal of attention, and certainly, my friends would know that affordability would be an issue!

So, yeah, most people would wonder, if not ask, if it were phony baloney. But that''s just where I live; if I was in Dallas or Houston, (and making more money!), I could get away with a bigger rock.

I live in Los Angeles and the rings are huge out here. I personally wouldn''t feel comfortable wearing anything larger than a 3.5ct on a daily basis. I could care less if people thought it was fake or not.

To me there is no limit on size and I will always have some kind of big stone in my life -- along with medium and small stones too.. I just love jewelry. But, that''s just IMHO. Everyone is going to have different opinions based on their own comfort level with size and what fits their lifestyle.

I wear a nice sized e-ring and band everyday that some might say is "large", but to me, it''s not big at all, but it suits me. Not sure if anyone thinks my stuff is fake..but, maybe they do.... who cares. I love fake stuff too!

If I could afford it and felt comfortable wearing it, I would wear whatever I want. I don''t care if people think my stuff is fake or not, it''s for **my** enjoyment not theirs!
Absolutely!! If it pleases me, that''s the only approval I''d seek.

Absolutely. My jewellery is for me!

In my family/social circle, if I bought a huge stone, I think I''d just go ahead and let people think it''s fake - it would be a lot easier than having to deal with the judgement that would no doubt ensue.

Nope!

BTW, most people are not qualified to have an opinion - on stones or anything else.

Yes, because it doesn''t matter to me what strangers think.

Ive never worried about what people think of my jewelry or how i wear it....when i worked in the trade people asked about my personal jewelry all the time.I wear it for myself and dont need anyones acceptance or permission to wear a larger the average gemstone,Rolex,a ring on my thumb or mixing Turquiose american Indian jewelry with Diamond jewelry....People think my diamonds are cubics and my cubics are diamonds...

Well my motto is "Do whatever makes you happy, as long as you''re not hurting anyone", so that pretty much covers buying, wearing and enjoying whatever the heck pleases me.

I have no desire to be robbed, and therefore no desire for large stones. However, that has nothing to do with the impressions of others. I would also rather have a boat than a 3ct+ ring... But anyway, people are going to judge you no matter what. There is no pleasing them.

You just do you, I''mma do me...
