I need a 3 Carat +/- Pear GIA G SI2 diamond. Been looking all over the net. Trying to stay around $22-25k. MUST BE EYE CLEAN.
I bought a gorgeous mounting with 3+ Carat of bling and looking for a diamond with no excuses that looks great visibly. Anyone have any leads on one? I don't care what it looks like under 10X, just has to be one of the few SI2's that are eye clean. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gerald Levin

Well what are the exact measurements for the setting? 3 carat pears range in size some are long, others are chubbier etc. Do you have a picture of the setting? Or will they adjust the setting to fit the stone?

Im not sure i follow you? Youve already bought the setting for it?

I already have the setting. Its suits our taste as it may be too jazzing for some. The jeweler said the ring will accommodate a 2-4 carat pair with a 3 carat being the best size. I saw a 2.25 in it and it was nice but a tad small. 3 would be perfect. If anyone know of any eye clean 3 carat pears please let me know. I have attached a couple of lousy pics that I will update in a few days.

Thanks,
Gerald

Pears come in all shapes and sizes. Its not lkme a round where they are abkut shape. Just because someone told you that fit a 3 ct doesnt mean all 3ct pears will fit it. Its going ti be very hard ti find a specific pear that is the exact shape and size you need to fit that specific halo. I would advise you contact good old gold. They may need proportions of the inside. They might even need the setting itself. Its not going to be easy. You might consider returning it and finding the stone first

Ruby, If I received the stone in the above pic I would be very disappointed. It looks dead and the inclusions are highly visible. If I have to pay more, so be it, but it cant look like the diamond in the above photo. I'm thinking I'll be lucky to find an eye clean 3 carat pear G SI2 for under $25,000.

A nice 3 carat pear that has proper proportions should not vary by more than .3mm in width or length. If I buy one and its not the right size my jeweler will tell me what exact size to find. I love the mounting and wont take it back. My primary concern is to find a 3 carat pear that is eye clean for now. A properly proportioned 3 carat pear should be perfect.

Now i truly believe its going to be a bit of a hunt to find one in your budget, spec requirement AND will fit such a spdcific hole, im going to suggest starting over with this

Large bright high color and eye clean. Very flash. And if its not flashy enough add adiamond band or two and itll be blingtastc

There is no such thing as a properly proportioned pear. They are made in all shapes. But if you love it good luck in your search. Hopefully ita not to long :wavey: Q

Yes, your search is waaaaay too narrow! 3 ct pears are not going to be plentiful, and great pears will be even fewer. For example, this is the inventory of all pears from 2.75-3.5 cts at James Allen. There is only one SI stone and even among these, some are not well cut enough to choose. This is why we say never to buy a setting first. Buy the diamond and then the setting.

I agree even if you had no budget, finding a pear isnt as easy as finding a round. Anytime anyone is searching for a pear, first you have to find one that is a good cut, that doesnt have a bowtie, THEN you have to hop it meets with your vague color and clarity and size requests. Its hard to find one thats just ONE of your requirements, because you might find one thats the right size but wrong color, or good size but wrong clarity. Even if you find one that meets all three of those, its might have a bowtie, and then the whole thing is out the window! And the higher the ctw, the smaller the pool you get to pick from- and thats ignoring the budget.

with that said, here is the only one i found on blue nile that fits your critieria in theory, but doesnt mean its any good

Thanks for the suggestions. I am flexible on the color and clarity but really need something close to a 3 if not bigger. I really like that 3.02 carat E SI1 James Allen pear in the link above. Priced at $33,900. That is now my comparison diamond. Do you think they would take $30k cash for the ring or is that too big of a discount from the ask? Also what is the opinion of the Large Culet? Think its going to affect the appearance of the diamond? Thanks for all your help.

Can I get some opinions on this diamond?

$23,020
Almost $11k cheaper than that one above.
Thanks

unfortunately there is absolutely no way to judge it without seeing a photo. no easy cheat sheet like a RB

i think your best bet would be to contact good old gold, they are good at finding fancies and will have more access to stones than we do, sense we have the disadvantage of going in blind on some of these sites.
