I was going to wait until I figured out how to take better pictures with a fancier camera but I haven’t the patience nor the talent to learn how to use the fancy camera, soooo I grabbed our ancient point & shoot and snapped what I could during the 10 minutes of Pacific NW sunshine bestowed upon us amidst this week’s hail/snow storms and gail force winds.
This is my first e-ring after 16 years (the first ten of which were lived in sin
, the last six: married with dream house, 2 doggies and 1 lovely child. It was all worth the wait!)
Here are the specs:
The stone is an antique Russian old mine cushion (ETA, it was repatriated from the Russian Revolution and released to Rachminov Diamonds 1891, who specializes in recutting antique cushions.)
GIA Cushion Brilliant
1.01 carat
F/VS 1
Pol./Sym.: VG/VG
Table: 63%
Depth: 62%
6.5 x 5.72
L/W ratio: 1.14
Notes: crown angles are greater than 40 degrees
Custom claw prong setting in platinum, size 4 ¼ by Ian MacDonald Jewellery Design inspired by Boston_Jeff’s dreamy Leon Megé solitaire. (His is still, and always will be, the ultimate cushion solitaire.)
Many thanks to all who answered my fumbling posts, to those who contributed to Cehrabehra and Boston_Jeff’s extreeeeeeme cushion thread and to everyone who makes this forum so lively, delicious and educational!
