I apologise in advance if I have posted this in the incorrect area

I'm interested in purchasing the following diamond (GIA) and just wanted some opinions

From my research graining is not visible to the naked eye. Would the medium blue fluorescence make the ring slightly green or a light yellow?

Cushion Cut Diamond, Loose

WEIGHT: 0.51ct
SHAPE: Cushion Modified Brilliant
COLOR: Fancy Yellow
CLARITY: VS1
MEASUREMENTS: 4.66 x 4.31 x 2.90 mm
TOTAL DEPTH: 67.3%
TABLE SIZE: 55%
POLISH: VG
SYMMETRY: VG
FLUORESCENCE: MEDIUM BLUE
Surface graining is not shown

FCDs behave differently IRL even though they look the same on paper. You'll have to see the stone yourself if the blue fluoro has any undesirable impact on the overall appearance. Even within the same colour grade, two stones can look quite different in colouration. Have you seen this FCD?

Thanks Chrono

No, I havent seen the diamond as I will be purchasing it online - I'm based in Australia and the vendor is overseas

I have done some googling and found photos on ebay.

The diamond appears to be a bit more yellow in some of the photos - perhaps due to the lighting.

eta - I hope the photos work this time

It is sometimes hard to tell what fluorescence will do to a yellow diamond as they react differently. The vendor of the gem you posted is showing the diamond in different lighting environments. I have bought a couple of items from this vendor and been extremely pleased. I would email him asking him how the fluorescence affects this particular diamond. He'll be honest- he likes his customers to be happy. :)

I recognize who the vendor is from the photos as well. Are any of these using natural lighting where UV reaction comes into play? If not, it is best to ask the vendor about how the stone looks outdoors.

I don't really have anything to add, but would like to echo that that particular vendor has a great reputation and really works to make his customers happy. You'd have nothing to worry about in that regard.

Keep us updated.

If you decide to have it set before having it shipped out to Aus, this vendor made my five stone ring and they did an incredible job so you're in good hands on that front too ::)

Not sure if by "based in" you mean "live in", but if so here's a thread on importing that another Australian PSer AJ started that might help with some of the details - https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/custom-ring-ausfta.130164/page-3

Hi All,
Gee I wonder who "that vendor" is.... :wavey:
We're not shy.....

Seriously, all the photos were taken in natural UV rich lighting.

Hi David :wavey:

I had no problem saying who "that vendor" was. I didn't want a lurker to scoop that diamond up on the OP, before they could talk to "that vendor"...It's been known to happen.

Ah, I see- great thinking!!!
I have seen that happen here.
In fact, we won't let that happen to someone who's already in discussions about a given diamond.
And we really do appreciate the nice words! Thank you!

that was also my reason. I've seen it happen to too many people that post a gem they are interested in and asking advice-only to have some "lurker" come by and snatch it!

You guys are awesome!!! Thank you!!!

Ditto about stone snatchers - one recent poster experienced this with another stone (not by you) and worse yet, had other customers attempt to make the vendor refuse to deal with her. Best to always play it safe.

Thank you all for your very helpful advice!

I have decided to purchase this diamond. I have only read positive reviews about David :)

Thank you for the link on shipping to Australia. I'll definitely read up on it.

That's awful, I didn't realise there are stone snatchers lurking around.

Congrats! :appl:

There is only one way to repay everyone and that is with lots of pictures once it gets to you. :Up_to_something:

I mean a lot of pictures.

Are you going to have it set? What are your plans?

Thank you!

It's probably typical but I'm going to get a double halo ring made. I was inspired by winottys photos as well as the tiffany soleste.

I actually contacted David before even trying on the tiffany soleste to check the suitability (talk about risky!). Luckily it suits and I love it!

I'll definitely post photos up when I receive it.

Congratulations! It's beautiful!

Oh it's going to be a gorgeous ring! I can't wait to see the finished version. The stone looks beautiful.

Really pretty stone. The color looks like a rich yellow without being harsh. The cut looks like it will be interesting and bright in person. Looking forward to seeing more pics once you get it set.

I bet it's going to look amazing

I can't wait to see it!

I'm sure it's going to be beautiful.
Congratulations.
